Since I got my new laptop several months ago I've had issues with frequent blue screens of death. They happened on a daily basis, sometimes several times a day. I searched for answers, ran memtest and other hardware tests and checked the temperatures and updated the drivers but found nothing. So I've been putting off contacting the manufacturer and sort of learned to live with it and only a couple of times did it blue screen mid-hand while pokering or something crucial like that.

However since I was taking a break from poker probably for a month or so I turned off the PostgreSQL server just so it wouldn't drain the resources and boom - haven't had a bsod since (I keep my computer on pretty much 24/7). It's now pushing three weeks and it's by far the longest I've gone without one. I've continued using the computer as heavily, playing games and watching movies etc.

Also when I went through the Windows Event Viewer (?) I did notice some error messages about the SQL server during the times of the bsods, but there was other crap there too and I'm not an expert at all at this stuff.

I found some old threads about problems like this and there didn't seem be any resolve.

Anyone else having similar problems? Any ideas?

We are not the Postgresql experts here we just use it as a tool.

I recommend you make a backup of your database, uninstall postgresql, reinstall the latest version and restore the backup FAQ - Hold'em Manager Poker Tracking Software :: Backup & Restore Database (http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/72/Backup+%26+Restore+Database)

If you want to go deeper into the postgresql analysis you may get more qualified help in a postgresql community.
