I have this problem from time to time. I have tried adding 127.0.0.1 localhost to the hosts file, and after rebooting, the problem persists. What can i do?

This is usually caused by windows updates and should be fixed with a reboot.
If that doesn't help please look for the hidden file postmaster.pid in your postgresql data folder and delete it. Reboot again.

If it still doesn't work please check this: FAQ - Hold'em Manager Poker Tracking Software :: Can't Connect / Failed to Start PostgreSQL (http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/91/Can%27t+Connect+%7B47%7D+Failed+to+Start+PostgreSQ L+)
