No matter how badly you do in a tournament, shouldn't the expected value never be less than the buy in was? Example posted below:

No, it could go to negative infinity, so to speak.

Also, there is nothing interesting about $-11 amount for your $11 tournaments. The interesting amount would be $0. :) Because, thats the amount where it seems that you start to own more money than invested. But, still, yes, it can go below zero.

This is because not all chips changes are recorded, just the ones where you are allin before river. So, this series of events generate lot of negative "luck": You win a preflop race, you lose the same amount on the river showdown. You go "luck down" for X, then you go "luck up" for zero. If you repeat this many times, you can be -$100 lucky on your $10 sng.

On a 5.30 sng, the highest I had is EV Won $24.90. (actually won 22.5 first pl)
And the lowest I had is $-14.18 on the same 5.30. (actually won 13.5 second pl)
