It works for a hour or more, then incessantly crashes. I have added it to the asfe list in my comodo, so that should not be interfering, and besides it works for a good hour or so everyday before it repeatedly crashes on launch.

restarting HEM or import has no effect once it crashes.

I'm not confident with reading error reports, but here's two possible FAQ's that will help you troubleshoot & fix:

######
FAQ - Hold'em Manager Poker Tracking Software :: Crashing Problems With The Hud Or Holdem Manager (http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/363/Crashing+Problems+With+The+Hud+Or+Holdem+Manager)

Update Holdem Manager
Often we have already fixed the bug and have released the patch. Please install the latest version from here: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe (http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/363/crash%20hud%20crash%20hm%20crash%20graphics%20grap hic%20driver%20crash%20crashing%20crashed%20laggin g%20lag%20lags%20crashes)

Give Holdem Manager Admin Privileges
1) Go to C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager (Program Files (x86) if you have the 64bit version)
2) Rightclick the HoldemManager.exe and choose "Properties".
3) Go to the Compatibility Tab and select "Run this program as an Administrator". If this option is grayed out its because youve UAC disabled, enable UAC, reboot, then do step 3 and you can then turn UAC back off again if you wish.
4) Repeat Steps 2 and 3 for HMHud.exe and DBControlPanel.exe

Update Graphics Card
As new technologies are released it can cause problems with graphic card drivers, the companies then release patches to fix those issues so updating can fix both crashing and graphic issues you may be having. Click here to see how to update your graphics card driver (http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/362/Update+Your+Graphics+Card+Driver)

Disable Aero and choose the standard/default theme On Vista or Windows 7
Disable Aero on Windows 7 or Vista - How-To Geek (http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/disable-aero-on-windows-vista/)

Run Vista or Windows 7 in XP Compatible Mode
Using Windows 7 or Vista Compatibility Mode - How-To Geek (http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-compatibility-mode/)

Disable or Reduce Hardware Acceleration
Hardware Acceleration can solve issues with graphics and crashing issues, depending on your graphics card driver Windows 7 and Vista users may not be able to disable this. Click here to see how to do this. (http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/361/Disable+Hardware+Acceleration)

Rule out corrupt config files as the problem
Some times a corrupt prefs.xml file or holdemmanager.config file can cause Holdem Manager or the hud to crash. To rule this out we install the default prefs.xml file and holdemmanager.config file.

First close Holdem Manager and go to C:/Program Files/RVGSoftware/HoldemManager and make copies of the prefs.xml file and holdemmanager.config file, then delete the originals. Once you do this restart Holdem Manager and it will create default holdemmanager.config and prefs.xml files and if this fixes the crashing problem then we can assume it was one of those 2 files were corrupt. In that scenario we would need to re-configure our import folders and hud settings and use the new default ones.

If however it doesn't fix the issue we can just replace the defaults with our copies by closing HM, deleting the prefs.xml file and the holdemmanager.config file and renaming the 2 copies to prefs.xml and holdemmanager.config and rebooting HM and all our settings will be returned.

Untick Live tracking
This can occassionaly cause performance issues so to rule that out go to Hud Options > Site Options and untick Live Tracking for Full Tilt, Party, Stars, Ipoker and UB.

Rule Out Firewalls/Antiviruses
Sometimes firewalls can prevent access to a file that HM needs to run and thus causing it to crash, unfortunately disabling the firewall doesn't always fix the issue. See these two FAQ's on how to remedy that.
FAQ - Hold'em Manager Poker Tracking Software :: Software Security Problems (Firewall) (http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/339/Software+Security+Problems+%28Firewall%29)
FAQ - Hold'em Manager Poker Tracking Software :: Windows Firewall / Defender Problems (http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/275/Windows+Firewall+%7B47%7D+Defender+Problems)

Narrow down the cause of the crash
Often it will be a combination of 2 or more programs causing the crash, to rule out other programs causing the issue first reboot, then open just Holdem Manager and the poker client. Close all non essential programs, that includes MSN, Skype, Teamviewer, Mikogo, Firewall, Antivirus, Internet, Email, AHK scripts, FPHG, PT3, basically every other program running including programs in the taskbar. If it fixes the crash then introduce one program at a time and try to reproduce the crash and continue doing this until you find the program thats causing the problem.

Enable Logging
Please go to Hud Options > Table Preferences and enable logging. Then recreate the crash and then go to C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager\Logs and send us the log.txt file with details of whats happening to support@holdemmanager.net and a link to the thread you made detailing all the steps you tried and also be sure to send the log before restarting HM otherwise it will clear the log. Also try to provide as much detail as possible about what was happening at the time the crash happened, did you click a button, switch tab, hover over a stat etc.

seems to suggest its a memory access violation. HMHUD tries to reach or execute something its not allowed to.

I imagine unticking "live tracking" might work if the error occurs because HMHUD is trying to read stuff from the memory( note poker client memory).

I'll give it a run tomorrow and report back, but it would be nicer to have a wholesome fix rather than a hack.

NOTE: the weird part is that it works for a while( an hour or two), and then decides to take a dump everytime its launched.
