Hi guys... i've never had this bad of a lag issue with HEM until yesterday. It was very frustrating. Everytime i click refresh or want to switch to a different tab it will take 30 seconds and freeze.

I don't know if i did anything to trigger this but 2 days ago i got a virus and i removed it with malwarebytes and did a registry scan with registry mechanic and fixed some problems... Not sure if they will effect HEM performance.

If anyone has ever experienced this can you help me out? It's starting to get really annoying :S

Hi,

Can you make sure your Opacity slider in Hud options > Player Preferences> Appearance TAB is 100% to the right and also do the same for the mucked cards Opacity

Also keep task manager running and have it sort by CPU in the Processes TAB and see what is using the most CPU when the lagging happens.

Try disabling as many programs as possible such as AHK scripts,Firewall, limewire,Mikogo etc and Antiviruses and if they cant be disabled make sure you add all these programs to the exceptions list such as HMhud.exe,DBcontrol panel.exe and holdemmanager.exe from the Holdem Manager folder aswell as any of the other programs that happen to be running, sometimes for example the antivirus/firewall etc scan every file thats been processed and it can slow things down so running with as few programs as possible.

Also going to control panel > Admin Tools > Event Viewer and copy and paste any description if there are any error or information events that coincide with the time of the lagging.

Go to Hud Options > Site Options and disable all the prefetch/track live hands options

Lastly make sure your graphics driver is up to date as this can make a big difference to lagging even with a brand new PC.
FAQ - Hold'em Manager Poker Tracking Software :: How To Update Your Graphics Card Driver (http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/362/How+To+Update+Your+Graphics+Card+DriverOn)

also Try removing Winner Name, Winner cards and winner won from the hands view column FAQ - Hold'em Manager Poker Tracking Software :: Hands View Column Selection (http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/192/Hands+View+Column+Selection) save it and refresh.

If your using the newer version youll find it under Options > Settings > Hands View Column Selection

It is not during live play like my HUD lags or anything..

It's just when HEM open the program lags really really bad. i read somewhere to delete some log files from postgre folder and restart. I think that worked... would that have caused it or is it probably something else? I had like 2-3GB of log files in that folder.

you did a large purge right ? the lagging was before then or after then ?
which log files did you delete ? they will not effect performance on a maintained HDD & maintained postgreSQL DB...

Here's a good way to speed up HM access - many already mentioned by Morny:
FAQ - Hold'em Manager Poker Tracking Software :: Holdem Manager Runs Slow (http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/109/Holdem+Manager+Runs+Slow)

especially because of that purge you did
When you get to the vacuum/analyse part...
FAQ - Hold'em Manager Poker Tracking Software :: Vacuum Analyze Database (http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/88/Vacuum+Analyze+Database+)
close hm
open pgadmin
vacuum analyse full
reindex (same menu as vacuum/analyse)
close pgadmin
stop the postgreSQL service
close all programs inc browsers
suspend any scanning security programs
defrag/optimise using free auslogics or IOBit or similar free prog
reboot
test
