can't change HUD stats abbreviations

whenever i try to change the abbreviation for a HUD stat or add a new stat and change the abbreviation , it doesn't change when saved and reverts back to the default abbreviation. never had this trouble before
any ideas?

i'm using xp home and HEM 1.11.02b

It's a bug in 1.11.x which prevents the saving of changes in some HM settings
A fix is promised in the next patch which will not be long in coming (Tuesday ?)
If you can't wait then go to the releases section & DL a previous version - I think maybe 1.11.0 is OK, but that's a guess
You don't have to uninstall your current version to revert
