My had crashed and I lost all data.
I made a backup from within postgresql and then I tried to
restore the db but HM does not recognize it but the restore seemed to be okay.

Is there anything special HM look at for it to be a valid HM db?
How do I do a proper restore so HM will find the db and confirm it as a valid HM db?

I have a similar problem. I still have my old hard drive with my HEM and postgres data on it, but after I my motherboard got zapped I setup a new machine with a new main hard drive. I have tried to replace the HEM and postgres data files in the hope that it would recognise my old database and notes, but no database is listed when I open HEM.

Is there some way that I can get HEM to recognise my old database, given that I was not able to follow the exporting steps outlined in this faq (http://208.109.95.123/faq/?f=101). I can just start a new DB and import my old hand histories, but I kept all my notes in HEM and it would be a borderline disaster if I couldn't access those anymore.

I created a new db and then imported some hands into it.
I backed it up and tried to resotre it but it dit not work properly.

Does HM fully support psgsql v 8.34 that is the latest?

If it works this bad for others you really need to make a bu and restore function from within HEM. It is about time anyway now when the prog have been out for almost a year.

Since there is some fiddling with the db between HM versions there need to be support for all the old versions of bus too.

Restoring DBs bewteen different versions: http://208.109.95.123/forum/showpost.php?p=7254&postcount=2

Try this if you have your data folder saved, but please use the version you had earlier: http://208.109.95.123/forum/showpost.php?p=15114&postcount=2

I have no problem backin it up.
My problem is restoring it.

I tried and it did not work from within psqAdmin.

I asked about 5 questions, can u please adress them all thanks.
I have more than 10 million hands in a psqSql BU but cannot restore it so it works with HEM.

I did not make the backup the way that is described in that file.

How do I restore it if I do it from the postgreSql Admin console?

This guide works fine if you plan to restore a db on the same computer and you have uninstalled another version of postgreSql.

It does not work at all if you have a crashed db on a hd a have a fresh install of postgreSql. There are several steps missing that you can read about in the pg_restore procedure and other steps you need to know about when you create the new db in pgAdmin that is completely missing.

I did not get any useful help for my problem with the crashed hd but the lack of info triggered me to get the info myself from the pg helpfiles.

Amazing fantastic program but a lack of decent support.
I wish Roy would implement a bu and restore procedure from within HEM and everything would be great.
