Help, I downloaded this version and first it told me that I had to register ( I have been registered for 3 years) and then I got the message failed to establish a connection 127.0.0.1, after I reregistered.

I tried to do stop and starting service and that did not work. I also tried rebooting and got the same message. I am running win 7. I also turned my firewall off as well. I have not changed anything else on my computer.

The registration issue is a bug which should be able to be gotten past by simply registering your same code again.

The other error is a DB connection issue.

This is usually a firewall or windows update issue.

FAQ - Hold'em Manager Poker Tracking Software :: Can't Connect / Failed to Start PostgreSQL (http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/91/Can't+Connect+%7B47%7D+Failed+to+Start+PostgreSQL+ )

First try to reboot.

If no help, try this:

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Stop Service

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Start Service

If that doesnt help delete the \postgresql\8.x\data\postmaster.pid file, if you see it.

Add exceptions to the windows firewall, even if it is off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, do the equivalent or uninstall it temporarily - FAQ - Hold'em Manager Poker Tracking Software :: Windows Firewall / Defender Problems (http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/275/Windows+Firewall+%7B47%7D+Defender+Problems)

Please try following these FAQs, step by step:

1) FAQ - Hold'em Manager Poker Tracking Software :: Can't Connect / Failed to Start PostgreSQL (http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/91/Can't+Connect+%7B47%7D+Failed+to+Start+PostgreSQL+ )
2) reinstall the same version of postgresql, using the same \data folder - FAQ - Hold'em Manager Poker Tracking Software :: Reinstall PostgreSQL Preserving Old Database (http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/71/Reinstall+PostgreSQL+Preserving+Old+Database)
3) Still Can't Connect to PosgreSQL? Try This! - Holdem Manager Forums (http://www.holdemmanager.net/forum/showthread.php?t=8261)

If that doesn't help you will probably have to reinstall PostgreSQL completely and reimport your hands using these instructions

1) Uninstall PostgreSQL from the Windows Control Panel.
2) Use our combo installer to reinstall PostgreSQL. Make sure you un-check Holdem Manager during installation. http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/Holdem_Manager_Setup.exe

If that installer fails to install PostgreSQL, please reinstall PostgreSQL using the following instructions:
A) Start > Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt > Right-Click > Run As Administrator

net user postgres /delete
B) Reboot.
C) Try installing this version of PostgreSQL - http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/Postgres_8.3.9-v1.0.7.exe

I tried everything except reinstalling postgresql, because I have a huge Database and really don't want to spend the time doing that. Basically when i do start service it gives a message that i can't read because it goes by too fast, but it says unable to start.

Could it be that my database is too large? It is approximately 25 million hands.

I have tried using the restore function and going back in time to when it was working properly and that I still get the same error message. Any help would be appreciated.

Try to start it, then go to Control Panel > Admin Tools > Event Viewer and in there click on Applications and it should give an error message for PostgreSQL that coincides with the date and time it failed to connect. Copy and paste all the details here please

You get this message when you try to start the postgresql service manually?
Thats pretty strange. I think the best is we arrange a teamviewer session to look at your system.

Please schedule a remote support session with our support. Email support@holdemmanager.net, with a link to this thread and your forum name, so we can setup a Teamviewer (http://www.holdemmanager.net/teamviewer) session.

Yes, that is the message I get when I try to start the service manually

Do you have different postgresql versions installed or different postgresql services?

I think we need to arrange the teamviewer session.

No, I only have one version installed and no additional services

Looks like some files got deleted, this should solve the issue FAQ - Hold'em Manager Poker Tracking Software :: Reinstall PostgreSQL Preserving Old Database (http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/71/Reinstall+PostgreSQL+Preserving+Old+Database)

Morny, I got to the next to last step and I am getting the error:

program files\postgresql\8.3\bin\postgres\lib. Verify that you have access to that directory. It will not let me go any further.

Reinstall it again, and make sure to delete the postgres user again.

When you install it this time manually browse and create a new folder to try and install it to C:\PostgreSQL, instead of under the \Program Files directory.

fozzy-when I try to run initialize database cluster, I get the warning message that the directory does not contain an existing data base cluster and will produce an installation that will not start.

Also not totally clear what you mean by deleting postgress user, I assume you mean change it to a different name?

Hi, maybe we can do a teamviewer session to troubleshoot the problem, please email me with a suitable time to do the session and also the timezone your in.

Thanks
