I am not computer savy at all, please be patient with me. So this is what happened, I decided to purge hands from around 2010 to 2011 and now my holdem manager will not work. I bought it in 2010 so i am assuming it is holdem manager 2.

Like i said i am not computer savy so i would need step by step help.

When I try to log onto holdem manager now it says "The following error occured when trying to open the database:failed to establish a connection to 127.0.01" I have no clue what that means.

Then i pressed ok and it says in a box Holdem manager needs to know where to find the database. Please enter the details below and click on Connect. Then it has Server name , port number, Login Name and PAssword, they are all filled out automatically already but when i press connect it doesnt work, it says the connection to PostgreSQL could not be made. So I am assuming that when i deleted the files, it needs to know where the remaining files are?

So please help with a step by step of what i have to do to get holdem manager working again..

Thanks very much..

It's actually most likely you have HM1, but the latest versions for both HM1 and HM2 are:

HM1 update: http://www.holdemmanager.com/Downloads/HmUpdate_Release_1.12.11_26aug2012.exe
HM2 update: http://www.holdemmanager.com/Downloads/7283_Hm2AutoUpdate.exe

Your error is PostgreSQL related:
This is usually a firewall or windows update issue.

First try to reboot.

If no help, try this:

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Stop Service

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Start Service

If that doesnt help delete the \postgresql\8.x\data\postmaster.pid file, if you see it. And reboot.

If that doesn't help you will have to reinstall PostgreSQL completely
