Hi there,

I'm trying to install holdem manager. My computer is running windows 7 and is a 64bit machine.

At the end of the installation I get the message that the installation was aborted because postgre could not be installed.

The message is "Sorry, could not install PostGreSQL". I click OK and the message on the installation window is "Installation Aborted. Setup was not completed successfully."

Any ideas what could be going wrong?

Cheers

Please try downloading and installing postgresql 8.4 from PostgreSQL: The world's most advanced open source database (http://www.postgresql.org).

If that fails too please try version 8.3.

If you have any firewall or security software installed it might be necessary to uninstall or reconfigure it:
FAQ - Hold'em Manager Poker Tracking Software :: Software Security Problems (Firewall) (http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/339/Software+Security+Problems+%28Firewall%29)

Tip: the HM installer uses the password postgrespass for the postgres user.

Hi there,

Thanks for your reply. I have done everything suggested in your material on installing Holdem Manager and Postgre.

I have uninstalled Norton and am using AVG instead. I have turned off the windows firewall and have tried uploading the Postgre separately.

I get the same message which is that Postgre has not installed correctly, even though it all seems to be there in the folder.

Any chance of an IM chat?

Cheers

Hi, maybe we can do a teamviewer session to troubleshoot the problem, please email me with a suitable time to do the session and also the timezone your in.

If you want a quick resolution Please try this version PostgreSQL: Choose a Mirror (http://wwwmaster.postgresql.org/download/mirrors-ftp/binary/v8.2.17/win32/postgresql-8.2.17-1.zip) but its an older version of postgreSQL, so if you want to solve the issues with 8.4 then please contact us

Thanks
Morny

Thanks, I installed v.8.2 and that seems to have done the trick.
