View Full Version : HEM won't show marked hands

Apologies in advance for the long message - I am trying to be as descriptive as possible so that you can assist as best as you can.

Usually, to review marked hands (in the replayer) I go to the "Hands" tab, let it load up the "Last 100", click the tickbox "Only Show Marked Hands" and they appear.

However, when I do this now the table is blank.

I have had this issue before, and I would rather randomly click and unclick "Only Show Marked Hands", "Refresh", etc, until something showed up. This however doesn't seem to be working despite my efforts. I sometimes get a 'Microsoft .NET Framework' "unexpected error" message appear when trying. If I click "Quit" HEM closes, if I click "Continue" the page stops 'Not Responding' but still no hands.

Alternatively, I went to the "Sessions" tab, clicked on the most recent tab, in the hands table beneath clicked "Only Show Marked Hands" and the marked hands from that session DID appear, and I could review them. This worked for the last 5-6 sessions maybe. However, sessions earlier than that had the same issue. I know that the marked hands are there, and testiment to that is the marked hands that appeared in via the "Sessions" tab method didn't even appear in the "Hands" tab.

Apart from the 'Microsoft .NET Framework' error, I once today got a "An error occurred at stage 33. Please report this to support@holdemmanager.net". However, this only happened once, I can still view my session etc, and error messages since have been the more common 'Microsoft .NET Framework' error (however, this doesn't always appear - most of the time the hands just don't appear. The error seems to only appear when I try to force things to happen by excessively clicking buttons etc).

Hope you can help.

Thanks,

DR

The first link takes me to an incorrect page. However, prior to sending my original email I did update HEM to the latest version.

I always have UAC turned off anyway. I just double-checked and it is still turned off.

The security programs I have on my computer are Microsoft Security Essentials, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and SuperAntiSpyware.

Hope that helps.

Try: http://www.holdemmanager.com/Downloads/HmUpdate_Release_1.12.11_26aug2012.exe

For W7 and Vista you must set \holdem manager\dbcontrolpanel.exe, holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe are started as administrator. Run the windows explorer and navigate to your Holdemmanager installation directory. Right click the executables and select properties... then select "Run as admin" from the compatibility tab.

Add exceptions to the windows firewall for holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe, even if the firewall is turned off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, do the equivalent or uninstall it temporarily.

Make sure your video card drivers and windows auto updates are fully updated. Run a manual Windows Update and install all updates, including all .net framework updates.

Thanks.

I used the link and downloaded the update.

dbcontrolpanel.exe, holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe were already set to run as administrator (I double-checked that this is still the case and it is).

Holdemmanager.exe was already an exception on Windows Firewall, but I manually set up the exception for hmhud.exe.

So far nothing has changed.

I currently have 4 optional updates:

1) XCT - Network - HDAUDIO Soft Data Fax Modem with SmartCP
--I don't have a Fax machine so feel this may be unnecessary

2) HP - Display - HP S2331 Series Wide LCD Monitor

3) Realtek driver update for Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller

4) Windows Internet Explorer 9 for Windows Vista
--I don't use IE (I used Chrome) so feel this is also unnecessary.

Are these going to effect HEM iyo? It's 21MB which I feel I'd rather not use up if I don't have to?

Is your Vista updated to Service Pack 2?

Is your Vista updated to Service Pack 2?

Yes.

The problem has only surfaced recently. It's been a bit hit and miss in the past but I've always been able to get the hands up and review eventually.

I cannot duplicate this.

Try a new database, import a file of hands, mark a hand or two and check it in the new DB.

*Try creating a new UTF DB - http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/75/Create+%7B47%7D+Delete+Database
*Now import a small portion of your \HMArchive so you can see if the problem exists in the new DB - http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/98/How+to+Import+%26+Export+Hands
*If the new DB seems to work properly, you will want to import the rest of your archives to the new DB, export/import the hands from the old DB to the new DB, and export/import any player notes and tourney summaries - and then delete the old DB.
*Make sure you export/backup everything before deleting the old DB - http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/372/Reinstalling+on+a+new+PC+-+Backup+Tips

I did what you said and the new DB does seem to work. However, I don't think this stops the problem.

The reason I say this is because in my original DB, if I go to the "Hands" tab and filter just the last 10,000 hands say. I can select "only show marked hands" and that also works fine too. It could be that I import all of my other hands and have the exact same situation?

My only guess is that it may have something to do with the way my hands are being archived? I archive to dropbox now, maybe once they get archived away from my HDD HEM has trouble connecting to the marked hands or something?

Archiving happens after the hands are imported. It's just like if you take clothes you're not wearing and box them up in your basement - it won't effect the clothes you wear on a normal day.

It most likely points to a corrupt database if the new database works.

Well that's my point - my old database "works" if I set it to the same constraints as the new one?

Regardless, I'll do as you say and create a new DB and import all my old hands and see if it works.

Thanks a lot for all your help regarding this issue. Hopefully this solves it :)

OK, I misunderstood. If the other works, roll with it.
