OK, so my system partition had its file system data structures scrambled, and I have reinstalled Windows. Fortunately i had intalled Postgres and HEM to a different partition, so technically the data is all still there, but my question is how can I direct HEM (or Postgres) to my existing DB after a fresh install of Postgres/HEM (i havent done so yet).

Can i just install Postgres to the same folder and it will 'automatically' see the pre-existing data there? Or is there another way to import a previous HEM database into a new datasource?

I guess its not the end of the world if i need to start again from scratch, but obviously would prefer to be able to get back all the hands i had previously imported into HEM.

Thanks in advance.

Edit: i think i have downloaded a newer version of Postgres than i originally had installed to, if this makes any difference.

You need to use the same postgresql version to preserve the data (it should be available on PostgreSQL: The world's most advanced open source database (http://www.postgresql.org)).
