I run Postgre SQL 8.3 on win XP Pro

I upgraded HEM to 1.11 o1b today

HEM is working fine but for some reason I cannot access any database maintenenace.

When I click on pgAdmin III it crashes instantly so I cannt vaccum the database?

Any ideas why thei would happen all of a sudden?

Also if I stop the service and then start HEM its doesnt fill in the boxes with the IP addresses and password as before?

Any ideas if the new install changed anything in the Postgre setting that would cause this?

as some aditional info.........

When I click on database management from within HEM it gives me the following error....

----------------------------------------------
An error occuredwhile reading the config//holdemmanger.config file:
Access to the path 'C:\program files\RVG software\Holdem Manager\Config\HoldemManger.config' is denied

Holdem Manger will no back up the old config file and create a new one for you
------------------------------------------------

It then crashes after you hit OK

Then an empty Connect to PostgreSQL box pops up.

With none of the server name, password, port name or login name filled in

This is strange under XP.
Are you running any additional security software which might lock the file?

What happens if you delete the file from the error message and start HM again?

I think I fixed the problem as I am now able to start pgAdmin III and run maintenance.

The problem was related to the Comodo firewall security suit, not sure exactly why as I added the various EXE files into the safe program and it has been working fine for a while.

But anyway........ I decided to add the whole Postgre directory into the safe files system and it now seems to work OK.

I did actually figure it out before you posted the above by starting XP in safe mode.

I was able to start pgAdmin so I knew it was probably something conflicting.

Its also worth noting that turning off the anti-virus/firewall makes no difference under a normal XP start.

For some reason the security sysytem still works even if off, which may fool people into thinking that is not the problem.

Not sure why the HEM upgrade would trigger this problem though?

Does it alter any of the postgre files in anyway, maybe its behaivior triggers the lockdown?

Should be fine now, firewalls are tricky like that, you can disable them but theyre still working away in the background, anyway glad its sorted now
