Hello! I recently purchased holdem manager, but I am having issues with installing the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 to run Holdem Manager.

Every time I try installing the service pack, an error shows up and installation fails. I get error code 1603.

Thanks for any advice I may get!

Which Operating System, Firewall, and Anti-Virus are you using?

Reinstall Microsoft .NET Framework:

1) Download and run this uninstaller - http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/dot...eanup_tool.zip (http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/dotnetfx_cleanup_tool.zip)
2) Install this one: http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...dotnetfx35.exe (http://download.microsoft.com/download/2/0/e/20e90413-712f-438c-988e-fdaa79a8ac3d/dotnetfx35.exe)

Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 3, windows firewall, router firewall, and Avira AntiVir Personal.

I tried that method which was suggested on 2+2, and it did not work. http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/167/commercial-software/holdem-manager-1-11-01-official-release-15-day-trial-omaha-table-scanner-tracker-1535/index1260.html#post19241472

EDIT: I turned off windows firewall and Avira before installing the SP. That did not work for me either.

That was a "Fozzy reply" cut and paste for my answer too ;)

I could cut and paste from this similar issue, but here's the link:-

http://forums.holdemmanager.com/manager-general/26665-unable-install-net-framework-3-5sp1.html
possibly try the firewall exceptions and the a/v disable.

If not, hopefully Fozzy himself will be able to suggest what to do if this fails to work.

I tried the suggestions in the other thread, and that did not work either. I also tried the firewall exception and a/v disable.

I see Fozzy posted some more suggestions in the 2+2 thread.
It looks as though a teamviewer session may be the solution, though I know he is pretty booked up at the moment.
The team should be back on line tomorrow.
Please update this thread if you are still having problems.

I am still having issues after doing what Fozzy suggested.

I can install .NET framework 3.5, but not the .NET framework 3.5 service pack 1. I found that odd.

I'm not really sure what else to try, it should install and if it doesnt its usually something to do with corrupt system files so id suggest doing a fresh reinstall or i think XP has a quick reinstall option that doesnt format your hard drive just reinstalls all the system files and leaves your personal folders and files and programs so maybe try that

It pains me to see people reformating hard drives and/or re-installing the operating systems. Sometimes this is the only option, but it should be the rarity not the norm.

I've been out of the IT game for a couple of years but I remember a system file check for windows XP (I think it also works for Vista but would need to be run as administrator) that might solve the problem of corrupted system files.

Step 1. Have your Windows installation disk handy and open a Dos box by clicking Start > Run and type 'cmd' (without the quotes) into the dialog box.

Step 2. This will bring up the standard black windows Dos box. At the prompt type "sfc /scannow" without the quotes.

This will run the Windows system file checker with an 'auto-fix' parameter. If the checker finds a corrupt system file it will ask for the Windows installation disc so that it can reload an original file.

After the SFC has finished, reboot your computer and re-try whatever it was you were doing.

Caveat. This does not / may not work on a pirate Windows O/S. I haven't tested it on Win 7.
