I was originally getting the same "Root element" issue some others have been getting.

I ran the upgrade. no help.

I did an uninstall and reinstall. no help.

I repeated the uninstall, using the recommended "revo uninstall" program. I then did a fresh install again and also installed the upgrade (both upgrades were done after a reboot).

HEM will now start up, but when I try to import hands, it freezes up. I got "four files found" and then it just sat there for ever. When I tried to stop the import, it froze up (not responding). It even froze up firefox and most everything else for several minutes.

If I try to browse around HEM w/o doing an import, it goes unresponsive for several seconds quite frequently. It gets really upset if I try to use Table Selector.

At present, HEM is completely unusable for me.

I am on a windows7 hp netbook and have been using HEM with no problems for several months.

Are you using any firewall?

I created a new database and am currently re-importing some hands from the archive. It is going at about 29 hands/sec (not sure if this is a good rate).

PT3 works w/o too many issues, so it doesn't appear to be a postgres issue, although perhaps it is specific to my HEM database file?

Any other ideas? It just seems odd that this popped up for several people all at once (even before I performed an upgrade).

I haven't yet tried table tracker with the new database. I will try it once the current import completes.

I also just saw the holdemmanager.config error again, which I hadn't seen in a while. It came after HEM froze up (I was trying to import from a directory, holding 4 files in it), and I had to do a hard reboot again.

Table Selector scanned fine w/ the new database (only about 13,500 hands in it so far).

If the problems persist with the new database

Can you make sure your Opacity slider in Hud options > Player Preferences> Appearance TAB is 100% to the right and also do the same for the mucked cards Opacity

Also keep task manager running and have it sort by CPU in the Processes TAB and see what is using the most CPU when the lagging happens.

Try disabling as many programs as possible such as AHK scripts,Firewall, limewire,Mikogo etc and Antiviruses and if they cant be disabled make sure you add all these programs to the exceptions list such as HMhud.exe,DBcontrol panel.exe and holdemmanager.exe from the Holdem Manager folder aswell as any of the other programs that happen to be running, sometimes for example the antivirus/firewall etc scan every file thats been processed and it can slow things down so running with as few programs as possible.

Also going to control panel > Admin Tools > Event Viewer and copy and paste any description if there are any error or information events that coincide with the time of the lagging.

Go to Hud Options > Site Options and disable all the prefetch/track live hands options

Lastly make sure your graphics driver is up to date as this can make a big difference to lagging even with a brand new PC.

In Hud Options > Table Preferences make sure logging is unticked
