I have brought a new laptop and want to move my database over, would it be ok if i copied the HH folder and moved it to my new computer? Then auto-imported the hands, or would it not work properly?
Im not very computer savvy so would this be an easy option to backing up the database ect.

Yes that will work, heres the full details if you want to take a look
If your doing a clean reinstall or moving HM to a new computer you should consider the following.
Export and Import your Hand Histories and/or backup and restore your database

Export Your Notes

Export any tourney summaries by selecting all your tournaments in the Data View Sub-Tab of the Tourney > Results Menu and choose Export Tourney Results and summaries
