Hi,

I've having some problems again with HM. I've had some in the past which you can read back at this page. Those problems are still not fixed because I can't install Microsoft framework.net manually. Windows update also can't find v2.0 or higher so I also can't install it automatically.

So I just let it go because HM still worked when I clicked multiple times on "doorgaan". Took some longer but at least everything worked correctly after ignoring that message. Had to restart the postgres service sometimes but it worked and didn't took so much time to fix while solving the problem would probably take much more time.

Anyway, that was the past. Since this week I'm experiencing some new problems. Today I started a session and after a half hour I went to the cashgames/sessions tab to see how I was doing so far. But after refreshing mulitple times I didn't get any output. I received again the error which I've had allready before but it always worked untill now... When trying to get to the sessions tab I also didn't received ANY output there... which leaded me to the conclusion that there was no connection with, or not a good connection to the database... So I restarted HM and the program started to initialize players .... anyway I waited till it was ready and I still didn't received my old database output.... It gave me the output of the 50 hands I played before which HM just imported....

So I went to services/postgressql to check if the service was started. It was... so I tried to re-type my username and password which resulted to only more trouble .

I received now those messages:

edit: for some reasons the images don't work. I've putted the link below them so you can still access them.

Ow, and about the username and password, I'm pretty sure they're right because I still got the scrshots of the time I installed HM where I entered the password. And when I login into pgadmin I just can do that with the current password...

But one note! - When I opened pgadmin I had to enter my password first and the service wasn't connected @ start. When I logged in it worked fine and I could see my database with an red cross in front of it which disappaered after 30 seconds....

Well anyway, I rebooted the pc again and now I tried it again and the errors only get worse :S, trying to login into pgadmin giving me a new error :

So now I also can't get into the database through PG adming

I'm pretty lost what to do now... plz help asap

regards,
Ruud

just did a system restore to yesterday.. managed to take a scrshot of the optimize reports when starting HM, attached it.

Also got some scrshots about how the situation is at this point: attached them also.

edit: when the optimizing is finished I still don't get any outcome on the reports tab for me. When I search on my name it says I've got almost 370k hands from me in my database. (so there is a connection...) but probably something isn't working correctly. After a restart I have to optimize again with the same result each time :S

Reading your thread from the 1st one about the transport connection error, since that post ive came across this alot and from the different teamviewer sessions i done its always caused by the same thing either a firewall/antivirus/definder or similar program blocking postgreSQL from accessing the database and this ties in with the new problem so follow this FAQ

I've tried the steps on that thread but immediatly got 3 errors while installing the latest version (v4 - beta). Attached them again.

After that I disabled my firewall and virusscanner and HM still starts up with the optimize reports thing.

For now I don't have time to look further because I've to train in 15 minutes. But the strange thing is that on my laptop everything works fine. Got there also windows vista, the same NOD32 virusscanner and use on both windows vista firewall...

will try to reinstall posgres but got a question about that, my database, where is it located, is that local? (think so), because in that case I have to backup it before reinstalling --> don't want to lose those 370k hands.

Ok you got that error because Holdem Manager was still running, or something belonging to HM was possibly running in the background so you can either kill that process in task manager or restart.

PostgreSQL will not uninstall the Data folder when you uninstall. Then when you reinstall PostgreSQL put it in the same location and when your running the installation at the stage where it asks for the password for the 2nd time untick the "initialise database cluster" and click finish and it will use that Data folder and your old database. If you want to be extra careful you can backup the database or export the hands first http://208.109.95.123/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=12

You can try disabling firewalls/antivirus but in alot of cases there still running in the background so the best solution is to completely uninstall them as per the FAQ until you get PostgreSQL installed and HM running and then you can reinstall them again

Today I found some time to take a look at the problem again. I uninstalled my NOD32 virusscanner and disabled my vista firewall. Rebooted and looked if I could made a connection now. It worked and I made a back up of the database and exported my hands.

I concluded that it probably was the firewall of NOD32 which caused the problem. So I activated my firewall again (excluded HMhud, DBcontrol and Holdemmanager.exe) and in stead of reinstalling postgres I would try to reinstall NOD32 first to see if it would work. (Would took less time ;)).

And it works fine again by now... I will continue using it untill I would get the same problems again and in that case I will reinstall postgres after those uninstalls form virusscanner and firewall. If I will find any new problems with that I will bump this thread again.

Thnx for the help morny,

regards,
Ruud

Edit:

Exactly the same problem came up with my laptop today, probably it has something to do with one of the latest updates of NOD32 I suppose.

Yeah most people can run fine for a while before this happens so i can only guess it must be to do with the updates changing some settings. Glad you got it fixed in the end
