just switched to hem please help

hello, i am making the switch from pt3 to hem. i already had postgrs on my computer but i tried to remove it. when i redownloaded it it said it already exists. i did it through the add/delete programs on my comp. when i try and open hem it wont connect with the db. what should i do?

i have vista, but i have the uac thing off.

i saved the postgres to my desktop but when i try and extract it it goes through the setup for a while then says "user postgres already exists"

when i try to run hem it brings up the connect to "pstgresql" window
but it will not connect

while installing, just chose another account name instead of postgres, for example postgresuser
