Holdem manager opens for two seconds and then closes again. It worked two ago and there have been no changes made to my computer as far as i am aware. There are no error messages, it just opens and closes again

Please reboot your computer and try again.

If it doesn't help:
- Operating system?
- Firewall, Virusscanner, any other security software?
- Which HEM version?

Reboot didn't help. Windows XP. McAfee Security (i havent changed any settings). I was running 1.08 beta of HEM, so downloaded 1.09 beta with no change to the problem.

I might try to go to restore point for windows to see if that helps

I experienced the same problem as Beanos described. Holdem manager worked just fine until yesterday. Then while I was starting it up, my McAfee virusscanner said it found a trojan and shut down the program.

I tried scanning the .exe file and no virusses were found, but Holdemmanager still opens for 2 seconds like Beanos said and then shuts down. So I see the small black frame where it says "initializing database, small stakes version", and then it gives the same trojan warning and shuts down. Tried updating the virusscanner and rebooting pc multiple times, but still the same problem.

I have by the way the 1.09 beta 23a version, running on Vista Home Premium SP1.

This is an old false positive bug. Why are you running such an ancient version?

Close HEM and your anti-virus and delete any \xenocode\appliance cache folders and any other possible false positive files.

1. Enable "Show hidden files and folders" under Control Panel -> Folder Options -> View
2. Go to C:\Users\%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Xenocode\Appl iance Cache and delete every folder you can find in there

If you are on XP, that location is C:\Documents and Settings\%USERPROFILE%\Local\Application Data\xenocode\appliance cache

Empty your recycle bin.

reboot

If you have Kaspersky try this:

Holdem Manager Forums - View Single Post - Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 not working with PostgreSQL? Here is the solution! (http://www.holdemmanager.net/forum/showpost.php?p=99782&postcount=10)

or this:

* Go into the KAV settings window.
* Navigate to the Service node.
* Here, turn on the Compatibility mode for programs using self-protection option.

If that does not work then find the "Heuristic Scanning" option in Kaspersky and disable that.

I tried the above on Vista (i dont have XP - mistype above) but it didn't work. However, i couldn't shut down my security properly. I turned all the options off, but i don't know if this is good enough? I can't find the option to turn the security program off

You'll probably need to completely uninstall the antivirus/firewall, then reinstall HM and then after its running again you can reinstall the firewall/antivirus

I also seen this happening due to the admin priveleges with UAC for a poker site, not sure if that was a one off or something but might be worth a try

1) Go to C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager (Program Files (x86) if you have the 64bit version)
2) Rightclick the HoldemManager.exe and choose "Properties".
3) Go to the Compatibility Tab and select "Run this program as an Administrator". if the option is grayed out then this is because youve UAC disabled, in which case enable UAC Disable User Account Control (UAC) the Easy Way on Win 7 or Vista - How-To Geek (http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/disable-user-account-control-uac-the-easy-way-on-windows-vista/) and reboot the PC then do step 3 and then you can disable UAC again if you like.
4) Do the same for HMHud.exe and DBControlPanel.exe and hmimport.exe

Also you mentioned you updated to 1.09 thats not the newest version Please install the latest version: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe

The admin thing seemed to work. I've yet to restart and see if it still works, but im sure that shouldn't make a difference
