when i start the auto import and have a couple of tables open
the monitor gets black and after that the frames are blue and it says it has closed the desktopwindow manager
now i cant jump between the tables while seeing the table in small when i click alt+tab.
all the betsizes from table ninja get mixed up and nothing is right

i got this problem since a long time and i tried a lot of stuff to fix it.
yesterday i remembered this forum.
it gets really annoying with 30+ tables so i mostly play less.

im about to buy a new computer because of this since i dont want to be limited because of a bug caused from vista+holdemmanager.

if i not start hem it works properly
and yes i have the newest update
i have 2gb ram
a geforce 8600 gs with the latest driver
i use ccleaner.
at first i could restart the desktop windows manager when i restarted the service UxSms in the task manager but now that doesnt work anymore
i have changed the settings in the control panel for this service that it should restart the desktop windows manager everytime when this error occurs but it does restart it only 2 times after that it stays

which is the best system to work with holdemmanager?
xp, windows 7...?

I have been using Vista for 6 months with no issues. It sounds like you may have a system/performance issue.

Try disabling the colored Frames option in TableNinja.

Please update to the latest version - http://www.holdemmanager.net/hmupdate

Please give HoldemManager Administrator rights -

1) Go to C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager (Program Files (x86) if you have the 64bit version)
2) Rightclick the HoldemManager.exe and choose "Properties".
3) Go to the Compatibility Tab and select "Run this program as an Administrator".
4) Do the same for HMHud.exe and DBControlPanel.exe

Do you perform regular DB maintenance?

1 - Close HM and Open PGAdmin

2 - connect to postgresql server and then to the DB. Password is postgrespass in case you ever need it.

3 - Right-Click > Maintenance on the DB.

4 - Vacuum, Full, Analyze > OK

Wait for it to finish and change the greyed out OK button to a Done button.

Do that ever 10 -30k hands.

Every 50 - 100k hands, after finishing the steps above:

A - Right-Click > Maintenance on the DB.

B - Reindex > OK

Wait for it to finish and change the greyed out OK button to a Done button.

Next we need to Stop the PostgreSQL service so the Defragmenter can Defrag the Database.

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL 8,4 > Stop Server

Open Smart Defrag > Select both drive letter checkboxes > Analyze

Pick suggested Defrag process > Start Defrag

After Smart Defrag finishes you should restart your computer.

If you need to use HM before you restart your PC, then you need to Start Server.

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL 8,4 > Start Server

Where do I find this file? I never realized we were supposed to perform DB maintenance - I have played well over 1 million hands on this computer...

If you don't have pgadmin in your windows program menu (it is usually installed with postgresql) you can download and install it from pgAdmin: PostgreSQL administration and management tools (http://www.pgadmin.org)
