Hi, i´m using HM for a year and I never had any problems with it. Since a few days my HUD is not working anymore. Settings are all correct, the table manager shows all tables. Even table finder cant find any attached hands.
I already read the FAQ´s, but they dont really help in this case.
I installed avira10 a few days ago, could this may cause this problem?
Thx for any help.

If it started when you installed Avira, that's probably causing it.
Make sure you set axceptions to Avira for the HoldemManager and Postgres folder and for port 5432.

Which Operating System, Firewall?

Please update to the latest beta - http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe

For W7 and Vista you must set \holdem manager\dbcontrolpanel.exe, holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe are started as administrator. Run the windows explorer and navigate to your Holdemmanager installation directory. Right click the executables and select properties... then select "Run as admin" from the compatibility tab. If you have Vista and the checkboxes are greyed out and you can't select it, please turn UAC on, reboot, and then set the files to run as administrator.

Add exceptions to the windows firewall, even if it is off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, do the equivalent or uninstall it temporarily

Operation system is XP and i´m using Sygate firewall.

Avira was running already on my system before, I just updated to avira10.

Now I updated to the latest version of HM.
When I start the Auto-Import now, the table-manager opens and in the same second I get the system-message, that the HM-HUD hast to been stopped, cause a problem ocurred.
Finally I get the HUD started, but it shows only stats that I already have in my database. New hands will not be added. Also "reports" and "sessions" don´t show any new hands.
I tryed on ipoker and Ongame, both the same.
I never canged anything in the Import settings.

Uninstall Avira 10 (disabling is not enough)
Delete all files in the handhistory folders of your pokerclients or move them to a different folder.
Reboot your computer and try again.

If it works now the problems are caused by Avira10.

Reinstall it and try to configure it correctly for Postgresql and Holdemmanager to work.

All done. HUD shows only elder stats.
I had a look on Import while playing some hands. It shows after a played hand: 1 hand imported / import errors: 1

Please create a new database and test some hands.

If this works try a reindex of your old database via pgadminIII.

If that doesn't help your database seems to be corrupt.

Creating a new database worked, hands will be imported.
How can I reindex my old database? Is there anywhere an instruction for it? I´m not a PC-Specialist. :)

There is a Reindex option on the same Maintenance window of PGAdmin as the Vacuum/Analyze option.

FAQ - Hold'em Manager Poker Tracking Software :: Vacuum Analyze Database (http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/88/Vacuum+Analyze+Database+)

Your old database is corrupt. And a reindex of the index "playerhandstourneymisc" didn't solve it. So you'll have to use a NEW database.

Damn, 30000 Players and nearly 1 Mio. hands.

How can I avoid those problems in future?

After you've imported ALL your hands..... do a vacuum/analyse---> no errors = no corrupt database--->

Backup that database in pgAdminIII, so you can always easily restore that database, without having to reimport the actual .txt handhistories.

Thanks for your professional help guys. In future I will be more patient with my database.:)

Regular DB maintenance can go a long way to preventing corrupt DB's. I am overly nitty about DB maintenance and I have never had a corrupt DB.

1 - Close HM and Open PGAdmin

2 - connect to postgresql server and then to the DB. Password is postgrespass in case you ever need it.

3 - Right-Click > Maintenance on the DB.

4 - Vacuum, Full, Analyze > OK

Wait for it to finish and change the greyed out OK button to a Done button.

Do that ever 10 -30k hands.

Every 50 - 100k hands, after finishing the steps above:

A - Right-Click > Maintenance on the DB.

B - Reindex > OK

Wait for it to finish and change the greyed out OK button to a Done button.

Next we need to Stop the PostgreSQL service so the Defragmenter can Defrag the Database.

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL 8,4 > Stop Server

Open Smart Defrag > Select both drive letter checkboxes > Analyze

Pick suggested Defrag process > Start Defrag

After Smart Defrag finishes you should restart your computer.

If you need to use HM before you restart your PC, then you need to Start Server.

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL 8,4 > Start Server
