All

Could someone please assist me - I have searched, found and reinstalled etc but nothing seems to correct this. I have also had various emails from Patrick (thank you) but still no answer.

I bought HEM about 2/3 weeks ago and about 10 days ago I got the following message:

"An error occured while reading the config//HoldemManager.config file: Root element is missing. HEM will now backup the old config file and create a new one for you."

I then press continue and nothing happens, cue switching the PC off.

At first, I attempted to upload this update http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe - this did not work. Then I had no other option but to uninstall HEM and reinstall it once again.

This has now happened 4 times and is becoming a real issue for me - I switch on the PC to play poker and I need to uninstall and reinstall HEM just to get my stats.

Can anyone please help me - is this a HEM problem, a database problem, my settings maybe??

I am operating Vista and everything is run as admin as needed.

Thanks in advance :(

Which Operating System, Firewall, and Anti-Virus are you using? Make sure windows is fully updated.

If you have vista or xp, try this:

Reinstall Microsoft .NET Framework:

1) Download and run this uninstaller - http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/dotnetfx_cleanup_tool.zip
2) Install this one: http://download.microsoft.com/download/2/0/e/20e90413-712f-438c-988e-fdaa79a8ac3d/dotnetfx35.exe

If none of that helps I would suggest a clean reinstall of HM using Revo to start with all new/fresh install files.

FAQ - Hold'em Manager Poker Tracking Software :: Using Revo Uninstaller (http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/126/Using+Revo+Uninstaller+)

1) Make a backup of your C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager\Config folder, and any other important files.
2) Uninstall HM with Revo Uninstaller Pro - Uninstall Software, Remove Programs, Solve uninstall problems (http://www.revouninstaller.com) using the Deep setting. You do not need to uninstall PostgreSQL.
3) If given the option, on the 2 following screens of Revo, remove any registry entries and leftover files.
4) Reboot your computer
5) Install the complete setup of HM: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/Holdem_Manager_Setup.exe. You should un-check the PostgreSQL Option when running the combo installer.
6) Test if it for a while and see if it works

Fozzy

Thanks for this - as and when it (HEM) specifies the root problem once again, I will follow your instructions.

As for system, I am running Vista and the antivirus / firewall is Norton.

Thanks
