This problem suddenly popped up for no reason. I open HEM, and no stats are loading etc. I close HEM, and end the postgres process. I reopen HEM and get an error that says 'The following error occurred when trying to open the database: Failed to establish a connection to '127.0.0.1'. I then get a DBcontrolpanel initialization error, and am unable to use HEM.

I think this means there is an error in communicating with the database for some reason... is there a way to recover this database or is this an HEM error?

Exactly the same thing happened to me last evening

BTW: when you stop the postgresql database server it is obvious that HeM can't connect, so that "second error" has nothing to do with your problem

Another one here. Yesterday evening everything was fine (as it has been for weeks, since I started using HeM) and this morning I get this message. Also tried to disables firewall, exit antivirus, disable UAC, use as administrator, installed postgres again. But this all should not be necessary, since all was working fine, and no settings were changed. It seems like a lot of people have this problem, and a lot of them are using HeM for a while without problems, so the problem really is postgres and/or HoldEmManager. I get the database control panel which looks like this, and when i connect the next boxes appear. Even though it says that HeM started the service, it is not possible to start. The sequence just starts all over again.

Please make sure you have the latest version http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmUpdate1.06.03h.exe

Try stopping and restarting the postgreSQL service http://208.109.95.123/faq/?f=159

If you get the start then stopped error message please try this http://208.109.95.123/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=153

And if it still dosent work then its to do with either the firewall or possibly your antivirus/windows defender or similar program thats blocking the connection to postgreSQL and often its an intermitting problem and usually disabling the softwares isnt enough to fix the problem

If you search the forums you will see this happens on a regular basis and the quickest solution is to unistall firewalls and antivirus, uninstall PostgreSQL, reboot and then reinstall postgreSQL and when you get to the installation screen where it asks for a password for the 2nd time then untick "Initialise database cluster", finish the installation and run holdem manager and then when its up and running reinstall your firewalls and antiviruses and add holdemmanager.exe, HmHud.exe and DBControl Panel.exe to your antivirus/firewall and defender exception lists and it should work.

If the problem reoccurs you may want to consider using an alternative firewall/antivirus ans there is plenty of good free ones available if you google them.
