I had my original database that I created wehn I first ran HEM.

Then I started a new one.

Now I want to combine the two into one larger database - how can I do that ?

Thanks

Follow ONLY the 1st step in this FAQ to export the HH from the original database http://208.109.95.123/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=12

then open the new database and choose import from folder and import the files you just exported

Thank you.

nb - as a guide, how large can a database reasonably get before there are database or performance issues ?

As the database grows the import speeds will decrease slightly but you should still have good performance and people are running 15 million HH + without problems

if i import both my databases using this method. Will HEM know that I want them both combined and not have two separate DB's?

Also, I currently use XP and I am going to start using Vista. Are there any differences in how I have you use Vista compared to using HEM on XP?

Thank you in advance.

When you import thing in HM, all you import will be inserted in the DB that HM is currently using.

You have to do some tricks with Vista if there is some trouble. With XP, there is generally very few troubles. But, don't worry, the Support as almost every answere about how to configure HM with Vista. If you have trouble, just ask your question on this forum.

how do I disable UAC in control panel?

ok I fond this http://208.109.95.123/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=73

under the manage account I dont have the option to change security features; is this because I have already disabled UAC?

For some reason the 2nd database is not importing? There are errors (159) but the first database had 133 errors and imported fine?

I am using the trial version fwiw. How do I change the shortcut to the holdem manager spade icon?

I am using the trial version fwiw. How do I change the shortcut to the holdem manager spade icon?

Just go to C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager

And add a shortcut to your desktop to the file "HoldemManager.exe"

Others questions are escalated to Morny.

Are you using the newsest version of HM, if not please download this version http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmUpdate1.06.04beta.exe but after you download it make sure you move the HH files to a new folder otherwise HM will recognise that it tired to import them already and ignore them

If your still getting errors please upload the files to www.yousendit.com and email me the link

Thanks
Morny

ok this is really starting to tilt me now. For some reason my postgres folder on my comp was 47.6GB in size, wtf?!? I have deleted it and uninstalled HEM.

I don't know why the postgres folder was that big? The two databases I wanted to install were less than 1.4gb in size, with the bigger one being 1.06gb in size. I have backed up my hands, would it be easier to install all my hands manually? Why is restoring databases so hard to do with hem?

Another thing that annoys me with the hem software is that after you install the software the icon is not the spade holdem manager icon but some other grey icon, why is this?

Are you trying to import 2 databases via restore? If so thats the problem, you can only restore one database, the easiest thing to do is export all the hand histories from both databases http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=173 and then reinstall a new postgreSQL and import those hands and thats it your all done.

Ill check with Roy about the icon problem

what about if I import my bigger database into hem and then export all the hands from the smaller db and import via that way, would that work?

I was speaking about the case you export all your hands from a database. Then when you reimport those hands, it works like normal HHs.

will it work?

Do that:

Export hands from DB1 = pack1 of *.txt
Export hands from DB1 = pack2 of *.txt

Import pack1 and pack2 in a new DB3.
