OK so i have a large DB was 17MM hands and at this stage DB was running fine. Then I purged a bunch of hands as I didn't need them I removed 7MM hands so now my DB is 10MM hands, I then ran a full analysis + vaccuum etc which took 18 hours to run. Then I ran a defrag on my db to make sure everything was cleaned up but NOW my db is super slow.

Switching between currencies takes forever the hands on the reports tap either show for the wrong currency or take a year to load, am I missing a step or something or is it just real slow after the latest update?

Did you turn off the postgresql service before you defragged? If not, it is a waste of time.

I would suggest you do the majority of the things in this thread: Top 10: HEM performance increase tips - Holdem Manager Forums (http://www.holdemmanager.net/forum/showthread.php?t=11194)

Some of the most important things, imo:

- Remove the WinnerName, WinnerCards and WinnerWon from the Options > Hands View Column Selecto
- Turning off logging and deleting existing logs
- Vacuum/Full/Analyze, then Reindex - FAQ - Hold'em Manager Poker Tracking Software :: Vacuum Analyze Database (http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/88/Vacuum+Analyze+Database+#manual)
- Defrag last and make sure you stop the postgresql service before you defrag. I personally use Smart Defrag.
- Do a Cold Boot (Shut Down > Start) before you use HM again
