a friend of mine and me we want to share a database because we are playing the same software and the same limit and want to share more information about our opponents. So i thought it has to be possible to rent a small virtual server and run a postgresql server on it. in the database options of holdem manager you can select an ip und port to connect to so it should work, shouldnt it? What made me feel a little confused is, that we tried to connect to the databases of each other first, and though we forwarded the suitable ports in our routers neither i could connect to his, nor he was able to connect to my database..

is it in principle possible to use external databases or is the porgramm just able to connect to the local host? does anyone have some experience with it?

thank you, dsdl!
