Please update to the latest version - http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe

The Virtual XP is updated to XP Service Pack 3?

Can you install SQL 8.x on port 5433 and see if you can connect if you install a different version of SQL on another port.

(so 8.3 if you were using 8.4 or vice versa)-->EnterpriseDB: Download PostgreSQL Installers (http://www.enterprisedb.com/products/pgdownload.do#windows)

Why did you block the server name?

I should be a default 127.0.0.1

Is your servername added to the Windows hosts.ini file?
(Windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts.ini)

the blacked out parts are my ip address. i don't know too much at internet security but i didn't think it was a good idea to post that on a public board.

also 127.0.0.1 is in the hosts.ini file

oh awesme it works now, just for connecting to the local sql db on windows. but i had always stored the sql db on the mac side as it increased performance dramatically, but maybe this goes beyond the scope of your support?

Just uninstall SQL... and reinstall it on the "Mac side" I guess....
Your existing database on the Mac side should also still be there.
On port 5432? maybe with a different server name.

thanks pat, since i have it working on the windows side (which makes it much slower but manageable), i can live with that for a while until i can figure out how to fix this.

Shreddes, the problem is not with Holdem Manager. I think it probably has to do with TCP/IP changes in Parallels. I ran into the same issue. You will need to edit the pg_hba.conf file. The good news is you only have to add one line of code.

The process is detailed in this post Installing Holdem Manager under Parallels 5 (http://www.macpokerdojo.com/2010/03/04/howto-install-holdem-manager-while-running-mac-os-x/).

Thanks for your help.

I have a problem, after I edit the pg_hba.conf file, I try and restart the server and it disappears. When I try and restart the server or stop the server or start the server i get the error message "The command exited with a non-zero status"

The problem is probably to do with permissions or you are trying to start the service whilst already running or stop service whilst not running. Try killing all the postgres processes that are running and the starting the server.

If you server will not start then there is probably a problem with your modifications to pg_hba.conf. Also try looking in:

/usr/local/pgsql/data/pg_log/start.log.
