Hi,

I just tried to update hem to the latest version and was told I needed to update the .net framework to 3.5sp1.

1st try took over 30 mins for the install progress bar to reach the end where it hung doing nothing for another 30mins. I had to close it from the task manager, clicking cancel appeared to do nothing after waiting a further 5 mins.

2nd try I ran the windows updater incase I'd missed anything and installed sp3. Ran the .net framework - same result.

Before the 3rd attempt I ran the .net cleanup tool.

3rd try I used the full download instead of the bootstrapper - same result.

4th and final try I ran the .net framework without my antivirus running (kaspersky) and again it just hangs when the install progress bar reaches the end.

Please help as this is incredibly frustrating and I can't think of anything else to try.

I use xp and was rebooting in between attempts.

Before you installed SP3, was your XP already updated to "Windows XP Service Pack 2". The .net framework updates are all in the Windows service packs.

Completely (temporarily) UNINSTALL Kaspersky. Do you have any other program that can interfere with SQL/HEM (firewall, antivirus, etc.?)

Please update to the latest beta - http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe

Add exceptions to the windows firewall for port 5432, even if it is off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, do the equivalent or uninstall it temporarily -

Reinstall Microsoft .NET Framework:
1) Download and run this uninstaller - http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/dotnetfx_cleanup_tool.zip
2) Install this one: http://download.microsoft.com/download/2/0/e/20e90413-712f-438c-988e-fdaa79a8ac3d/dotnetfx35.exe
