View Full Version : Connection establishment timeout: Increase timeout value in connection string

I am running PostgreSQL 8.2 and Vista, have disabled User Account Control, have ensured that all necessary programs are being run as Admin, and have fully excepted HM, HMHud and DBControlPanel from my firewall (Norton Internet Security 09). I even tried disabling the firewall completely but to no avail. I continually get this message, but it happens intermittently. Sometimes I get it when I first start HM, sometimes I don't. When I do, I have to stop it and restart the program, sometimes several times. Even if it successfully starts, I run into this error time and again when I use the "refresh" function in the reports tab. It is becoming more and more frequent, to the point that it is making HM a real PITA lol.

Are there any other known causes for this?

First make sure your using http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmUpdate1.06.03h.exe

Then try restarting the PostgreSQL service http://208.109.95.123/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=34

And if its still giving problems then its either your antivirus/firewall/defender etc so you could try disabling/closing and adding all the HM .exe's to their exceptions list but from experience its usually much quicker to completely uninstall the antivirsues/firewalls etc then run HM and then install them again once its up an running. Id also install them 1 at a time and run HM to see if you get the problem again so if they do give a problem youll have it narrowed down which one caused it
