EV$, what is it and how is it calculated?

How is EV$ calculated? What about hands that don't go to showdown or hands where the opponent's cards are not revealed? What does EV$ mean? Thanks.

$EV Adjusted in the reports TAB is based only on all in hands, if you have average luck i.e when your expected to win the hand 4 in 5 times and you do exactly that then your $EV will be $0. If you have a bad spell of luck and when your expected to win 4 in 5 and you only win 2 in 5 then your $EV will be negative and vice versa. However there seems to be a problem with the way its calculating which were looking into at the moment.
