Uninstall Spybot Search & Destroy.
Cleanup your hosts file: (if Spybot added lines to it delete those lines)
http://holdemmanager.net/forum/showthread.php?t=8182

Uninstall PostgreSQL 9.1
Install PostgreSQL 8.2 to port 5433: http://ftp.postgresql.org/pub/binary/v8.2.22/win32/postgresql-8.2.22-1.zip
Reimport your hands into a new database.

Add exceptions to the windows firewall for holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe, even if the firewall is turned off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, do the equivalent or uninstall it temporarily.
Run a manual Windows Update and install all updates, including all .net framework updates.

---

Even if you do ALL this..... performance will still be low.
Your combination of: laptop CPU (slow CPU), really low RAM, and laptop harddisk (extremely slow) is disastrous.

the only HOSTS file that i have is in "c:\I386", is it this file that you mention?

i use to have sql8.3 then i uninstalled and installed sql9.1, why itīs better now to install and older version like sql8.2?
if i unistall the sql9.1 before to install sql8.2, may i loose the db and the hands?

Hosts file is in: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\ folder

When there are issues with 8.4/9.0/9.1 (which is common), the advantage of 8.2 is, it will ALWAYS run.
If you switch SQL version, you will have to reimport all the hands into a new database.

i have windows xp and i donīt have the "drivers" folder into the "system32" folder and the only "HOSTS" file that i have is in "c:\I386" folder, is this the file that you mention?

why itīs better to uninstall the "spybot search&destroy" ?

playing for first time in "zoom poker" in PS, the HM show that i played 204 hands while PS shows only 144 hands, why may i have this difference? i started playing one instance and after while i added a second one in the same zoom game level, maybe here is the difference?
i have HM1 version 1.12.10b, itīs necesary to update with this link for zoom poker in PS?

I don't mean the file in c:\i386.

enable the option to see Hidden System Files: How to see hidden files in Windows (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial62.html)
http://rvgsoftware.fileburst.com/images/hidden.jpg

Then check again in C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\

Spybot is notorious for screwing up the hosts file. The hosts file should only contain a couple of lines, when the file gets too big, the PostgreSQL server connection will stop running.

1.12.10b already is the latest version.

When you played 204 hands and PS shows only 144 hands, PokerStars is wrong.
I recently tested this on PokerStars and it's inaccurately tracking the number of hands played on Zoom tables.
HoldemManager has the correct number of hands, based on the actual handhistories.

i uninstalled the spybot s&d and opening the "hosts" file, i only can see one line "127.0.0.1 localhost"

now i want to unstall the sql9.1, but from the "control panel of windows" i only see this version, but from the pgAdmin III i can see:

Servers(2)
PostgreSQL 9.1 (localhost:5433)
PostgreSQL 8.3 Database Server 8.3 (localhost: 5432)

from where have i to uninstall? from control panel or from pgadmin III? have i to uninstall both in order to install sql8.2?

tks

Uninstall 9.1 from Control Panel.

Instal 8.2 to a different port, for example 5434: http://ftp.postgresql.org/pub/binary/v8.2.22/win32/postgresql-8.2.22-1.zip
