I get an error message; followed by the "HEM has recognised you are running vista" do they following all of which have been done.
Then the connect to postgreSQL comes up. I connect and I get "an error has occurred while retrieving the imported file list: Unable to read data from the transport connection. An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Chris

1. Uninstall PostgreSQL
2. Uninstall Antivirus
3. Restart computer
4. Install PostgreSQL
5. Install Antivirus

I did all this and followed the instructions to the installation T, but I got messages like a clusteranalysis is not needed because a database is already set up.

Needless to say it still doesnt work.

Hi when you got to the database cluster screen you should untick that option and it will use the previous database.

Please make sure you have the latest version http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmUpdate1.06.03h.exe

Try stopping and restarting the postgreSQL service http://208.109.95.123/faq/?f=159

And if it still dosent work then its to do with either the firewall or possibly your antivirus/windows defender or similar program thats blocking the connection to postgreSQL and often its an intermitting problem and usually disabling the softwares isnt enough to fix the problem

If you search the forums you will see this happens on a regular basis and the quickest solution is to unistall firewalls and antivirus, uninstall PostgreSQL, reboot and then reinstall postgreSQL and when you get to the installation screen where it asks for a password for the 2nd time then untick "Initialise database cluster", finish the installation and run holdem manager and then when its up and running reinstall your firewalls and antiviruses and add holdemmanager.exe, HmHud.exe and DBControl Panel.exe to your antivirus/firewall and defender exception lists and it should work.

If the problem reoccurs you may want to consider using an alternative firewall/antivirus ans there is plenty of good free ones available if you google them.

Its definetely due to some program youve installed interferring, ive even seen one lately where someone had a firewall built into their network card and that caused the problem.

If you uninstall your firewall and antivrus/defender and reboot then email me morny@holdemmanager.net then ill have a look through www.teamviewer.com and see if theres anything obvious i can spot

I have uninstalled anti virus etc and I still cant get it working. My friend also worked on it and started a new database and got it working, but then it has started with the same errors. I am at a loss here.

There really isnt alot more i can suggest, this FAQ details it also http://208.109.95.123/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=164

I have yet to see this being anything other than a firewall/antivirus problem which is why i suggest just uninstalling everything like in that FAQ as its usually the quickest way rather than trying 1 thing and then trying another.

If you follow that FAQ as described and its still giving problems id suggest posting on the postgreSQL forums where theyd have more in depth knowledge of their product.

Hi,

updated my 1.06 which worked fine to the 1.07beta which I cannot get to work.

When I start HEM it continues processing something for several hours.
I have only 100 000 hands in my database, so it should not take so long.

I have allowed HEM in/out in my F-secure firewall/virus scanner and as
already said everything worked just fine previously.

I get no error messages HEM just keeps processing something.

I use Vista and have switched off UAC.
Also checked that i run the programme as admin as adviced in the following:

Make sure that holdemmanager.exe, hmhud.exe, DBControlPanel.exe are running as administrator if you’re using Vista. To do this close down Holdem Manager and the HUD and right click each .exe file and go to Properties and then in the compatability TAB in Priveledge level tick run as administrator if your using VISTA. You’ll find the 3 .exe files at the following path: C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager by default or wherever you installed HM. If run as administrator is greyed out this is fine as this indicates your already running as administrator.
Any suggestions?

If youve only 100k hands then the best way to do this is export the HH from the old database http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=173 and then create a new database http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=146 and then import them into that one

Its probably something damaged in the database so this is the quickest way to fix it
