So I've been using HEM2 ever since it came out, starting with a trial, than upgrading to SmallStakes, because of the special offer on Pokerstrategy.com. Means I ended up paying ~20$, however given the fact that I've had nothing but problems eversince, I really do not see this as an EV+ investment. (yet)
Nevertheless,this isn't the topic for that, actually the reason I'm posting this is to open up my own thread, where I'll post bugs and issues surfacing while running HEM2 on my laptop.

So I'll to start with my system specs:

I have ASUS K53S laptop

- processor: Intel Core i5-2430M @ 2.40Ghz
- graphics: Nvidia GEFORCE GT540M 2gb
- RAM: 4gb (planning on upgrading)
- HDD: WDC 500 GB (partitioned C: and D:) - all HEM2 files & handhistories are stored on C:
- OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit SP1 (original)
- keyboard settings set to slovenian language (middle Europe, east of the Italian border)

... all drivers are currently up to date, checked via Windows update. I also use external 21inch LCD as I tend to multitable alot.

I would also like to encourage other viewers of this thread to post their issues if the system specs match up as I tend to believe that their user experience is quite the same if not worse :).

besides the obvious crash bug on startup I also experience:


- crash when closing application --> TableScanner.dll stopped responding (randomly occures)

- Pokerstars imported tournament summaries are incomplete or false:
ex. 1,5$ HU sng, wrong rake calc., also adding rebuys, wrong finish position [sometimes 0 ??]

- PartyPoker incomplete MTT summaries, mostly rebuy MTTs (I don't know if thats really your issue as I've heard they have problems with their lobbies)

- Terrible HUD while playing cash games or MTTs, popup lags and stays on screen even if I close it (click anywhere else), same when i just hover my mouse over any players nickname; happens both on PartyPoker and Pokerstars

- also database says I have 1066 tourneys, reports show only 1046

- the EV calculation bug

What is your Windows > Control Panel > Region and Language > Format: option set to?

Close HM2 and change it to English (USA), then restart HM2. The Reports should now work again.

Close HM2 again and change your regional settings back to your native setting and

Please delete everything except for the database, notecaddydefinitions, backups and config folders, caddylayout, CaddySettings, ColorDefinitions and layout, NoteCaddyTags and noteDefinitionsLayout files in:
7: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\HoldemManager\
You must show both hidden files and check unhide system files. See this:

uninstall, reinstall this version:

Please add holdemmanager.exe, hudfuncapps.exe, postgres.exe, pg_ctl.exe (in postgres\bin) and hmupdate.exe (available only during an update) to the list of exceptions in your firewall and antivirus.

Please make sure that you are running as an administrator.

You may need to uninstall your AV, install HM2, and reinstall your AV.

Have you made any changes to your computer recently?

ok i downloaded and reinstalled HEM2.. so why didnt I get an autoupdate notice?
I am running as admin, the files are added to AV exception list and I haven't made any recent changes to my PC.

I did the regional settings change but it had no visible effect. I am curious as to how could you launch so bugged software into the store as a final product.. also what kind of supercomputers do you use if u had no problems with it untill it was released?

After updating to the most recent version (the one linked earlier) I am unable to access 'Opponents' tab in HEM2. The program crashes every single time. (5 attempts)

What site and tournaments are you attaching the tags to in which this issue occurs? mtts? sngs? Can you please provide a screen shot of the Tourney Tag > Manage Tag window for the custom tag that does not work? Thank you.

The tags are for 1,5$ HU turbo sng on Pokerstars.eu I could properly set up 3,5$ HU 2 tables sng, but this one I couldn't.

Works like a charm but "shortcuts" dissappeared. I mean 'Manage Tag' and 'Filter for Tags' are nowhere to be found, so I have to filter results "the long way" .. click filters >> filter for tags, select, doubleclick.. >> OK

Got my hopes up too soon. After updating to 6971, started the app and filer tags worked, but there were no shortcuts. After restaring the program, the shortcuts came back, but unfortunately, so did the problem. So still when filtered, it shows 0 result.

After updating to 7125, I'm not able to update my database. Holdem Manager freezes and I have to kill the process with task manager.

Ignore any 'not responding' the program will unfreeze after the database update (can take hours!).

you mean like 8+ hours? on cca. 300k hands?
I also went to windows event viewer where I got the warning about "escaping characters". I looked it up on google and found out I can edit postgrsql.conf to bypass it. It's a minor issue, probably not a fatal error, but i'll try that too.
The line that needs to be edited is #standard_conforming_strings = off ,and needs to ber turned 'on'. Hope this is of any help.

Thx! I'll write a report for this.

If the database update doesn't work, as a temporary solution, you can also just rename your PostgreSQL folder.
Then reinstall it. And reimport your hands into a new database.

Or downgrade back to 6866... until this issue is fixed.

OK so I'm currently upgrading to PostgreSQL 9.1
After the install, I'll continue to uninstall version 8.4 which I've used untill now.
Next step will be to import all hands in a brand new database. Hope this will help me bypass the HEM update issue.
If this is what HEM 2 was trying to do, I'd recommend everyone with the 'freeze' issue to do the same.

OK, so now I run SQL 9.1 on HEM2 v.7125
Auto-update didn't work, so I exported my hands manually and then also imported them back into new database. First I tried to import them all at once by 'Hand Importing' --> Import folder - but after awhile, Hem froze once again and I had to kill the process by Task manager.
So I tried it the long way: It took abt 3hours, and I did it via 'Hand Importing' --> Import files --> 1000 files at a time

Anyway, all histories seems to be accounted for, but with the update, came some new bugs:

- abnormal rebuy amounts for MTTs

- 0 Net winnings when NOT cashing in an SNG/MTT (theyshould be -x$ )

- pot odds/percentage conversion in Hand replayer is wrong

- when I close HEM2 and try to re-open it, I get a message sayin 'HEM is still running' (I have to kill it in TaskManager)

We don't support PostgreSQL 9.1.
Either use 8.4 or 9.0 (or 8.2).

Downgraded PostgreSQL to 9.0. You guys have got to be joking with this software. Never been so tilted in my whole poker life... BTW, where can i get 6866? It was the last release that worked for me...

is not read only and that all permissions are set to full for your user name. The folder will continue showing read only after that, this is an issue in Windows.

The process was completed successfully after some time (don't know how long as i left home with my laptop running for the whole day). After a quick glance I noticed an overall improvement of loading times and most of that ridiculous rebuy amount for MTTs was gone. Graph oading/drawing times shows great improvement. So good work there!

- There are still issues with some SNGs/MTTs - winnings are placed in the rebuy column. I only play on Stars and Partypoker.
- Pot odds to percentage conversion in Hand replayer is still showing incorrect % amount, i.e. 3,17 : 1 =\ 24% or my math is wrong; as far as I know putting 12c into 38c pot equals to 33%
- Still geting that annoying message 'TableScannerloader.dll stopped responding' when exiting HM2

Please zip and email some of the original hand histories and tournament summaries for the tourneys. I haven't seen this.

3:1 = 1/4, so you need to divide 1 by 4.17, which is 23.98, rounded to 24%

Please send a log file and windows event viewer after duplicating the dll

Please duplicate the issue.

Open Windows Event Viewer's - Windows Logs - Applications.

Check for any errors and send the information. They should be right at the top.

Please send a log file as well.

Please send us a screen shot of the problem and sample of hands from each site that have the problem. We need the original hands from your archive for that day. All original hands that are auto-imported get moved to an archive for performance reasons. Your \HM2Archive is in C:\HM2Archive by default, but you may have put it anywhere. The archive should be organized by \Month\DayOfMonth (example: D:\HM2Archive\2009\07\31).

Please zip and email the problem hand histories, with a link to this thread and your forum name, to hm2support@holdemmanager.com

This is a known bug we are working on and were actually discussing it via email earlier today. There are 2 types of this error: 1 that causes HM2 to not load at all, and the one you get when closing HM2 (which I also get on one of my 3 test machines).

The assigned internal ticket # on this issue is HM-4084: TableScanner PlugIn and EasyHookSVC errors

I have added your email address to the ticket so we can notify you once we have fixed it.

To help us fix it faster:

Please duplicate the issue.

Open Windows Event Viewer's - Windows Logs - Applications.

Check for any errors and send the information (Save All Events As...).

Please send a log file as well.

Hello,

Everything went smothly for awhile, but now there are new issues regarding Bwin poker room. After their merge with PartyPoker, Holdem Manager doesnt import new hands, or more accurate, doesn't show them in reports section of software. I'm currently running HEM2 .7662

I have set new HH folder as instructed but no new hands after 16 dec 2012 are displayed. What to do??

You may need to create a new database

Found the issue. I had wrong nickname selected, ie 'nickname' (merge) is now 'nickname' (partypoker) for hands played on Bwin or PartyPoker. Should've warned us :)

On v. 7665 'Reports' tab (CG), the right mouse click - 'save as' function doesn't work. New window pops up, I'm able to select different file formats but none of them are then actually created on disk. Tried restarting HM2 multiple times with no success.

Also the "allin preflop" filter does not function on 'By stakes' tab

Is there maybe a way to edit widgets on the 'Home' tab so they don't have to be moved up and down or closed every time HM2 is restarted?

"save as" this is a known issue, only save .html currently works. We're working on a fix for the .xls format.

Widgets: you'd like to remove some, or change the order in which they are displayed?

All-in preflop = true: the filter works for me. Try the 670 update.

- Save as .html or .csv works now :)

- 'Allin preflop' generally works, just not on 'By stakes' subtab

As for widgets, I'd like to permanenty put 'App Launcher' or anything else on top, remove those I don't want, etc. but everytime HM2 restarts, widgets are back in their defaut position. It would be nice to have 'Remove widgets' button as well

A couple of default widgets cannot be removed.
It's a known bug some widgets that should be removable still return when you restart HM2. This should be fixed in the next update.

By stakes:
- Close HM2
- Please delete the following files:
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\HoldemManager\ho ldemmanager.config and holdemmanager.config.bak
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\HoldemManager\Re ports folder
- Start HM2 again

Also try reimporting your hands into a new database. And set the date filter to ALL HANDS.

It works fine but it might be a good idea to allow for more serials to be input at once as some of us got quite a lot of Sng's. Just recommending for future releases :)

You have to use commas between the numbers. The text input box is rather small but I had no problems entering 6 tourney numbers and the filtered results were correct.

Well then it has to be some kind of mini-bug on my end, because I'm unable to put "2nd comma" after inserting 2nd number. :/
It just won't work. I can, however, continue to type in numbers, probably unlimited... just not comma.

I can only put two tournaments in that filter, can't type any comma after the second one.

But it's quite easily solved/reproduce. Change the regional settings from your OS to English (USA) and the problem is solved, you can now type any number of tournaments/commas you want. Change to, in my case, Portuguese and you can't type more then two tournaments/one comma.

I've tried that, but to no avail. I even tried changing my "input language", as well as virtual keyboard. No success so far :( My keyboard setting is set to slovene/Slovenian.

That's unfortunate.

I can reproduce the bug every time i change the regional windows settings from Portuguese (Portugal) to English (USA) and vice versa.

Did you restart HM/PC after changing the regional settings?

Thank you for letting me know it was a cultural issue. Once I changed from English to Slovenian I was able to reproduce it. I am not sure why changing to English (USA) is not solving it for Rokow but hopefully we can get this fixed soon and send a beta build to you for testing.

Yes, thank you. Probably has something to do with numbers as "comma" serves as a decimal point in our language. Like, 1.5 = 1,5 in Slovenian.

I have asked our testers to check this to see if they can reproduce it. We had this problem in the past and it was fixed but it sounds like it may have returned.

The new database and re-import didn't work for me. So problem must lie elsewhere.
Well IDK about Russians and their symbols, but try to reproduce my problem in Slovenian. You will see then. :)

That's interesting... To me bug occured randomly even without restart. The usual user action was multiple refreshes, changing dates, changing tags all within 20minutes or so - so basically some kind of memory overload I guess.

- Program is having issues with importing STT SnGs from PKR.com

Problem occurres while multitabling. App says that files have been imported, but they are never shown in any of the tabs. It usually imports & displays 4 - 5 Sngs, with the rest, it's a gamble. Sometimes they are displayed, other times they are not. I usually have 9 tables open, which is the limit.

- It probably wouldn't hurt looking into PKR handhistory files, so that the imported data would be more accurate ( I play $0.10 sngs, it shows as $11 sng). Hand histories work fine.

I have lost about 15% of data this way, cause I can't figure out what is wrong. Also PKR deletes the hand history files (randomly, after one stops playing) so there's no way to retrieve lost data. Only thing that'sleft are "session stats" files, which are pretty much useless.

Until the bug is resolved, I'll be making copies of handhistories, just to be sure. I can also supply them if you should need them.

I'm not using "all in one" feature. Every table is displayed separately and in cascade. Can one change hand history folder in PKR? Currently mine is /Documents/PKR/hero/... Maybe there's an issue with Windows, idk...

PKR doesn't write any useful information to STT handhistory files, such as the buyin.
So HoldemManager will use a $11 default buyin. You can change the default buyin by going to: settings--> tourney defaults

I don't think we've understood eachother. The picture above is the problem. If you examine tournament numbers from PKR's report for tourneys upward from no. 27491792, you'll notice two SnG's missing. Now I don't mind changing buyins and other data, but I cannot do that if I don't see a tourney that I wish to edit.

And I get the same problem session after session... It's really annoying because data is then incomplete and of no use for analysis.

Hey guys,

for anyone playing/multitabling on PKR.com. I've had issues with HM2 not displaying them properly and I've figured out where the problem lies.

PKR software obviously has a bug that replaces tourney ID in handhistory with ***NO TABLE*** while having more than four tables opened at once. Thus, HM2 cant allocate them correctly.
This applies to playing cash games & SnGs at the same time or 4+ SNGs. So for 4 tables opened (1 CG + 3 Sng) tags will be displayed in HM2 properly, upon opening the 5th table - the tag ID will be repaced by what I mentioned above.

I've already contacted PKR tech support notifying them of this issue so lets hope for the best. Untill then, if you dont mind tourneys dissapearing in HM, multitable to the max, otherwise remember, only 4 at once.

PS - when u finish playing one of the tables, you can add a new one and it'll show up in MH :P

4 tables limit for HM is known thing.
May be I searched not carefully, but you did not mentioned in this thread about "number of tables opened is more than 4"

Since the STTs are imported into Hm2, athough not shown, is there a way to then at least delete them?

What I want t do is edit every log file manually in text editor and replace ***no Table*** with STT ID. It would the import properly, wouldn't it?

How to access imported data with PGAdmin? (if nothing else, I'd delete them from my DB this way)

If you can't see them you can't manually delete them from the reports with the right-click menu. You might be able to purge them from the database manager but I doubt you can filter precisely enough to only purge those games.

I can't say for sure but it sounds plausible. Feel free to make a copy of your \hm2archive files and give it a try then import a small sample of the edited files into a new database to test if it works.

I am not sure if this is possible as I am not a programmer and postgresql queries/editing is above and beyond the type of support we provide for HM2. You might want to try asking on a postgresql forum to see if someone there can help you with how to pinpoint and edit the data in pgadmin.

OK tried to import one file into new database, amde for this experiment.. At first it showed, and then i purged DB and tried again with the same file and it didn't work anymore. Must be something in these texts, that causes HM to malfunction. Friggin PKR... will try some more and also posted into PSQ forum..

Pacific has all new software coming out that we are beta testing so these types of issues will need to be put on hold until their new software is released to see what issues are outstanding that we did not catch in our private beta testing.


In the future can you please just start a new thread for any issues or post them in the beta release thread if you are using the latest beta? I am going to close this thread since it is rather old.
