I get that error message every time I try to run HM. I think my wife updated something...the toolbar is a brighter white, so I guess that's the reason it's all of a sudden not working. The problem is that I have gone through the FAQs on this particular problem (Windows Firewall, Windows Defender, add programs, uninstall, reinstall, etc.) The whole thing took about an hour and a half and I'm still nowhere. I downloaded the latest BETA and I still get the same error message.

I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium. I love HM, but would love it more if it would work again. Help please!!

click on Start and go to Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt

* If you are on Vista, rightclick and choose "Run as Administrator".

A black box should appear. Type 'net user postgres /del' (without the quotes) and press enter.

The user is now deleted and you can (re)install PostgreSQL.

please try this PostgreSQL version: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/pginstaller.exe

OK, I can at least get HEM to work now, but I lost all of my hands. It also looks like a slightly tweaked version. is there anyway to get my hands back?

If you have the handhistories in the archive (default c:\hmarchive) you can reimport them.

After the Postgresql reinstallation the old database was moved to a backup but for trying to restore it you would need to use a customized postgresql installation. Its explained in this FAQ: http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=177
