Just about to setup HEM on my new pc but thought I would check on this forum to see if there's any issue regarding windows 7.

Noticed your sticky, however I dont quite follow what it is you mean, during postgresql will I have to do any of this or not? Am I correct in thinking that this is just something I do once it is all setup, by simply locating the files you listed and doing what you said?

Also, what is a secondary logon service and why should this be turned on, what does it do?

Apologies for my lack of knowledge! Thanks for the help, you da man MR FOZZY :D

Yes, after you install HM and PostgreSQL go to the Services Panel (Start > Search > Services > Right-Click > Run As Administrator)

Follow the steps for the Secondary Logon to make it automatic, if yours is set to Manual. If it doesn't say Started, then you need to Start the PostgreSQL Service also.

I dont know what it is really, other than it needs to be set to automatic so the PostgreSQL Service can start when you boot up. otherwise you need to manually come here and start it before you start HM.

To install HM and postgreSQL on a new W7 PC, Use these steps:

Having problems - have downloaded HEM and pgsql, I cant seem to be able to install pgsql, the file was already unzipped not sure if win7 does this automatically, anyway whenever I double click it it comes up with some quick screens of loads of text then 'postgresql was installed successfully', but I cant do anymore than that? Seems to have skipped out all of the steps needed to set it up? Whenever I double click it again it just does the exact same.

I went into UAC, followed the vista guide on here as it was similar, set UAC to 'never notify' (it then came up immediately saying "do you want to allow uac to make changes to your computer" to which I clicked yes).

I have also tried clicking 'Run as admin' on the postgresql file but it does the exact same as above. Also, I got a message saying I must restart in order for UAC to be turned off, so I did but now when I start up my computer I've got not only my user account but another option which is postgresql and right underneath it it says administrator!?!?

Help please, not too sure where I've gone wrong..

The postgresql installation creates a new user postgres - so thats ok.
To hide this user from the login: http://forums.holdemmanager.com/showthread.php?p=111416

It seems that your postgresql installation is ok (you can check it if you a running windows service postgresql and a postgresql program menu).

Now you can install and start holdemmanager but you need to give some files administrator rights: http://forums.holdemmanager.com/showthread.php?t=21121

It has been only a year since the first beta release of Windows 7 and only 2 months since its public release to retail channels in selected countries throughout the world but it is already clear, says Microsoft, that Windows 7 is the fastest selling operating system in Windows history.

Oh so with windows7 none of this is necessary http://www.holdemmanager.net/setup/postgresSql.html ?

Ok so on top of disabling the UAC I also have to go into those files.

You don't have to disable UAC.

Please give HoldemManager Administrator rights -

1) Go to C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager (Program Files (x86) if you have the 64bit version)
2) Rightclick the HoldemManager.exe and choose "Properties".
3) Go to the Compatibility Tab and select "Run this program as an Administrator".
4) Do the same for HMHud.exe and DBControlPanel.exe
