Bought and installed HEM, when I try to open HEM, it goes to the Database control panel, where you put server name, port name, login name, and password.

When I try to connect it says a connection to postgreSLQ could not be made, would you like holdem manager attempt to start the service?

I click yes, and holdem manager is unable to start service.

I intalled the newest patch, tried uninstalling/reinstalling postgre, and turned off windows defender, all same results.

Can a mod/technician help me with this? I have windows vista btw, and I have been using pokertracker fine for past year.

Open dbcontrolpanel.exe (in the HoldemManager folder)
Change the default HoldemManager password: postgrespass to
dbpass (which is the default PokerTracker password) and try to connect.

click on Start and go to Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt

* If you are on Vista, rightclick and choose "Run as Administrator".

A black box should appear. Type 'net user postgres /del' (without the quotes) and press enter.

The user is now deleted and you can (re)install PostgreSQL.

Reinstall PostgreSQL 8.4.2 (postgresql.org) and type in postgrespass for password. Then change the password back to postgress pass in dbcontrolpanel (database management)

If you dont see dbcontrolpanel then HM is likely not installed properly.

To reinstall HM - http://www.holdemmanager.net/forum/showthread.php?t=20816

Please give HoldemManager Administrator rights -

1) Go to C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager (Program Files (x86) if you have the 64bit version)
2) Rightclick the HoldemManager.exe and choose "Properties".
3) Go to the Compatibility Tab and select "Run this program as an Administrator".
4) Do the same for HMHud.exe and DBControlPanel.exe

When i go to that link there is no giant green download button or whatever, and i dont know what to click.

I did the above stuff you asked me already. Thanks

You should try to stay in one thread and explain your problem in detail.

Wait so are you saying that the only way for me to get Holdem manager to work is to buy another program for $40, use it to uninstall Holdem manager, and then reinstall holdemmanager?

Standard error message, because no database exists yet. Just hit OK and create a new database.

Hey,

First I want to say thanks to the mods/technicians for helping me get hem to work.

I have a new problem now. I exported my pt3 database and then uploaded it into hem, but my total winnings are off by ~25k. The number of hands are close enough (off by like 50 hands over 250k+ sample).

Can anyone help me with this?

What sites are the hands from and which version of HM did you import with? Tourneys or cash games? Microgaming Network?

Do you have the original hands in your \poker tracker 3\processed folder? I always recommend saving and importing the original hands if you can. They will be more accurate than any exported hands.

Cake, it should be the newest version of HEM. I got HEM pro 1.09.03.

I have 2 databases, one which was before pt3 came out with beta that read cake hhs, and one after. The one after is a lot more accurate, and thats the one thats off by 25k or so. My other database is off by ~10k or so too.'

Also something else weird has occurred. When I turned on my computer today (first time since re-installing postgres and getting HEM to work via your guys' instructions) I noticed there was a new user account on my computer named postgres. It was a locked acc, and the password was postgrespass. Whats up with that? Am I safe to delete that account?

Please update to the latest version - http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe

-reimport all your hands into a new database, after you've done the upgrade to 1.10 beta 7.

-Don't delete the postgres user (at startup).. but there is a way so your computer will boot straight to your normal account:http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/377-log-automatically-startup.html

I prefer simply hiding the postgres user account - http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/remove-user-accounts-from-the-logon-screen-in-windows-vista/
