If you have Vista, please verify that UAC is still off. - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmmain.aspx?faqid=73. If it is on, please turn it off and reboot.

Please update to the latest beta - http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe

For W7 and Vista you must set \holdem manager\dbcontrolpanel.exe, holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe are started as administrator. Run the windows explorer and navigate to your Holdemmanager installation directory. Right click the executables and select properties... then select "Run as admin" from the compatibility tab. If you have Vista and the checkboxes are greyed out and you can't select it, please turn UAC on, reboot, and then set the files to run as administrator.

Also I'd just reinstall SQL. Preferably SQL 8.4 on port 5433 (alongside 8.3 on port 5432...) then open dbcontrolpanel.exe and connect to port 5433

Thanks, I'll try that tonight - I know my check box to un as administrator was greyed out. so I should turn the UAC off for install/updating and then turn it on afterwards so I can run those exe files as administrator:

I can't seem to find the 8.4 version of SQL

Thanks again,
Rob
