Hey, ive had holdem manager like a year without any problems but yesterday from nowhere my internet connection went down.. The strange thing was that my mates (in the same router) had internet.. wondered why, but couldnt find it out.. It happend 2-3times yesterday and same thing at home today (and then my dads internet still worked)

So.. I asked him what can be wrong? (he knows alot about computers etc.) And he checked it out and said it has to be something about Postgres, and i guess thanks to Holdem manager.. (was a bugg the same time my internet went down in postgres).

Anyone had the same problem, or any admin ever head about it? what might be wrong? Kinda frustrating getting DC'ed and loosing money..

Thanks alot, i hope i explained the problem kinda ok.

Postgres can't kill your internet connection...... but many programs can kill your postgres connection AND your internet connection: any firewall, antivirus, Windows User Account Control, torrent downloading application, etc.

Please update to the latest beta - http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe

For W7 and Vista you must set \holdem manager\dbcontrolpanel.exe, holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe are started as administrator. Run the windows explorer and navigate to your Holdemmanager installation directory. Right click the executables and select "Run as admin" from the compatibility tab. If you have Vista and the checkboxes are greyed out and you can't select it, please turn UAC on, reboot, and then set the files to run as administrator.

Add exceptions to the windows firewall, even if it is off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, do the equivalent or uninstall it temporarily - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171

Make sure your video card drivers and windows auto updates are fully updated. Make sure you have Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 (or later for w7) installed.

If you currently can't even connect to postgres..... try installing 8.4 (if you had 8.3) on different port 5433 (if you were using 5432)
