View Full Version : Using two DBs

Hi,

a few weeks ago i decided to split my DB in two. One for the few sites i plan on playing now and in the future and the other one with sites where i made kickbacks or don't get rakeback and therefore stopped playing there.

Now i went back to ongame to check out if their software did get better (No, it didn't) and they are in the 2nd DB, called ~"NoMore".

But in between i went back playing for a session on my mainsite. And afterwards i forgot to copy the HH-file into the HEMarchive and therefore after changing the DBs back and playing on ongame, these HHs were also importet in that DB. Bottom line: it would be nice if we could configure the autoimport-folders for each DB on its own. Apparently HEM uses all the folders for every DB.

And secondly: if we export our HEM notes, HEM always uses the same file. Therefore the backup of my 2nd DB-notes (less than 100) will always overwrite the notes of my 1st DB (more then 2K notes) and vice versa. I had to manually copy the file in another folder; maybe you could make this a bit more userfriendly.

_______________
I only come to the forum, when i have a problem. But thats kinda the nature of it. I just want to make sure, that you guys know, that i do appreciate the job you do. HEM is by far the best tracker.

I'm just thinking out loud & I'm not sure my idea is sensible, but...

Couldn't HM & pgSQL each be set up twice on the same HDD ?

As long as each HM is set up for different sites with no overlap there would be no risk of importing hands to the wrong DB ??

I suppose it would have to be done on 2 partitions & it would use 2 licences ??

@loki
I've stopped playing at ongame, therefore i'm just using my primary DB. And so i havent tried your solution, but thanks for the effort. :)

@netsrak (Karsten maybe?)
C'mon you can do better than that. I was not suggesting a feature, just giving a hint about usability. And we all know, nobody would see it in on uservoice. Gimme at least one small sentence like: "Oh poor guy. I'm sorry to tell you, but the development team has more important things to do right now, but i'll inform them. To be honest, i don't think the stuff you mentioned will be on a high priority." But i understand you have to deal with tons of diff people, maybe the uservoice sentence is the best overall.

Personally i think HEM has only two weaknesses / leaks. One is the usage of Uservoice. I understand it's way easier for you guys, but i don't think its a convienent solution. But thats just my opinion, nothing more.

The second thing is really annoying, it's everything about TableScanner. But thats a different story, maybe for an own thread. (Cliffs: support way worse than on the HEM mainpage / no features added since i bought it in october.)

Gig - do you read minds ?

UserVoice is a mess...

Before you say... I would rather not stick this on UserVoice because it would get swallowed up :)

I have been looking here: https://uservoice.com/faq. I realise uservoice.com is not part of the HM organisation - it's an independent online app that's hosted on uservoice.com servers

There are now 39 pages on the UserVoice customer feedback system for Holdem Manager: http://holdemmanager.uservoice.com/pages/5307-holdem-manger-suggestions
Each page has 20 entries - that's nearly 800 customer feedback entries on how HM might be improved !!

QUESTION: Has HM got the uservoice plan that would allow HM support to 'edit' the entries of customers ? https://uservoice.com/signup?ref=nav

I ask because...

A] I've seen a few already existing customer suggestions proposed again as entirely NEW suggestions
This happens a lot, because there isn't an easy way (as far as I know) of viewing all the suggestions without trawling through all 39 pages one-by-one
B] Some customers put 2 or 3 good ideas that aren't necessarily related into one entry - which is understandable, because you only have 10 votes to spend. But this means a very good idea can be lost this way, because few other voters notice a 2nd or 3rd suggestion within one entry

I would like to see...

** Similar or identical customer suggestions combined into one so that the VOTES are also combined (MAC users would love this :) )
** Double the vote bank for each customer to 20 votes & allow/encourage only one suggestion per entry
** Existing entries with more than one suggestion split into seperate entries (I don't know what happens to the votes though - are they split too ?)
** A categorisation of suggestions into a number of forums ( see CITY OF SEATTLE below)

This is a lot of work for someone, but well worth it for sound commercial reasons alone - good for biz if HM (& us the customers) have a clear idea of what's being asked for

NOTES:
If you have the 'BRONZE' plan ( https://uservoice.com/signup?ref=nav ) you would also
** MODERATION: have some limited moderation tools - that would allow you to delete entries & then I believe HM support could re-enter them according to my suggestions
** CITY OF SEATTLE: This site for the city government of Seattle: http://www.ideasforseattle.org/pages/27772-general is powered by UserVoice & it uses categories in the way I suggest - they have 14 'forums' down the right-hand side according to city services. HM could apply this idea themselves with a seperate forum for each of HUD features, new sites, new poker game formats, leakbuster, new stats, new OS's etc

Gig - do you read minds ?

UserVoice is a mess...

There are two contradicting proverbs for this:

a) Great minds think a like.

b) Two idiots - one idea. (not sure if that exits in english, but it is at least a german saying.)
