I have bought HM a few days ago. I still canīt use it because it canīt connect to the database. I have read some threads with the same problem but the solutions doesnīt solve my problem (antivirus, firewall, UAC, etc..).
When the database connection window appears i fill in with the following data:
127.0.0.1
5432
postgres
postgrespass

and the the sequence of messages appears:
- "A connection to PostgreSQL could not be made. Would..."
- "Sorry, Holdem Manager was unable..."
- "Holdem Manger has started the..."

And if i repeat the process the same messages appears.
I already had PostgreSQL installed (8.3 version) because i have been using PT3, and it works fine with PT3.
What could be the problem?

Your PT3 is still running?
You need to use the same database connection data than configured in PT3. During the first start of HM after successful connection please create a new database.

Under Vista and Windows 7 make sure UAC is disabled http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=73
and/or holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe are started as administrator. Run the windows explorer and navigate to your Holdemmanager installation directory. Right click the holdemmanager.exe, dbcontrolpanel.exe and the hmhud.exe executable and select "Run as admin" from the popup menu under compatibilty.

My PT3 is still running, it works fine (when i try to run HM, i close PT3, of course).
However, HM doesnīt connect to postgres. The connection data (login name, password, etc..) are the same used in PT3.
As i said on the first message, i've set "run as administrator" the proper files (holdemmanager.exe, dbcontrolpanel.exe, hmhud.exe).
Any idea?

Then its a firewall problem, you need to configure exceptions for the postgres and the holdemmanager processes.http://208.109.95.123/faq/?f=171

I have disabled windows firewall, windows defender and my antivirus (avast), but the same problem appears.

This is usually a firewall or windows update issue.

First try to reboot.

If no help, try this:

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Stop Service

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Start Service

If that doesnt help delete the \postgresql\8.x\data\postmaster.pid file, if you see it.

Add exceptions to the windows firewall, even if it is off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, do the equivalent or uninstall it temporarily - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171

Please try following all of these FAQs, step by step:

1) http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=34
2) reinstall the same version of postgresql, using the same \data folder - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=177
3) http://www.holdemmanager.net/forum/showthread.php?t=8261

If that doesn't help you will probably have to reinstall PostgreSQL completely and reimport your hands using these instructions - http://forums.holdemmanager.com/showthread.php?t=20755
