My brother said he had this problem when starting out too, so it might be in the FAQ somewhere but I couldnt find it.

I just set up HEM. The directory to Stars is set correctly, yet its not importing. Any ideas?

Please update to the latest beta - http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe = 1.10

For W7 and Vista you must set \holdem manager\dbcontrolpanel.exe, holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe are started as administrator. Run the windows explorer and navigate to your Holdemmanager installation directory. Right click the executables and select "Run as admin" from the compatibility tab. If you have Vista and the checkboxes are greyed out and you can't select it, please turn UAC on, reboot, and then set the files to run as administrator.

Add exceptions to the windows firewall, even if it is off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, do the equivalent or uninstall it temporarily - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171

Make sure you have Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 (or later for w7) installed.

Open Stars... go to Options--> Instant Hand History Options.. and make sure it saves the HH, in English... the folder matches the folder in your Configure Auto Import Folders

-1 Go to Start-->Control Panel-->User Accounts-->Click on your main account-->Change My Account Type-->set as administrator (or create a new account that is an administrator)

-2 Start-->Control Panel-->System--->Does it state which Service Pack you have installed?? It should state Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 3.
If it only states Windows Microsoft XP, install Service Pack 1, 2 and 3 (in that order)

-3 Windows Update... install all critical updates.

-4 .Net Framework install http://download.microsoft.com/download/2/0/e/20e90413-712f-438c-988e-fdaa79a8ac3d/dotnetfx35.exe

Sigh I encounter problems at step 1 already:When i select "change my account type" it just tells me, that changing it, is something I can tell the administrator to do. What now?

If you have no administrator rights and dont know the administrator password there is nothing we can do for you - you should reinstall your operating system.
