I have uninstalled and reinstalled HEM and Postgres 3 or 4 times, and each time i still get the same error: The following error occurede when trying to open the databse. Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. So I click OK then it goes to the connect to postgresSQL

I click connect. It says, error when connecting to PT3 DB unable to read data.... BAsically it's the same error as before. I click OK and get my list of databases, I select Holdem Mnaager as my default database and click start holdem manager.

HEM starts validating and I get the same error message. I've uninstalled and reinstalled over and over. I've done a system restore on my computer because I thought a possbile windows update may have effected it, but it's not working. I am totally out of idea's and frustrated as hell, so any help here would be awesome. I don't even care if I lose my old databse or not I just want to get it re working again.

thanks.

The problem isn't Holdem Manager. It is the connection to the PostgreSQL DB.

This is usually a firewall or windows update issue.

First try to reboot.

If no help, try this:

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Stop Service

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Start Service

If that doesnt help delete the \postgresql\8.x\data\postmaster.pid file, if you see it.

Add exceptions to the windows firewall, even if it is off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, do the equivalent or uninstall it temporarily - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171

Please try following all of these FAQs, step by step:

1) http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=34
2) reinstall the same version of postgresql, using the same \data folder - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=177
3) http://www.holdemmanager.net/forum/showthread.php?t=8261

If that doesn't help you will probably have to reinstall PostgreSQL completely and reimport your hands using these instructions - http://forums.holdemmanager.com/showthread.php?t=20755
