I recently crashed my pc and had to re-install everything including HEM, I had the files in the same folder as before, had installed a higher update version of the previous one. When I open HEM, this message appears:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

What seems to be the problem? Can you guys help me?

Can you please explain this more clearly? What did you do with the 'files in the same folder as before'?

Here are my suggested steps for reinstalling HM - http://www.holdemmanager.net/forum/showthread.php?t=20816

What I did is I just simply install over the same path. I will do what you said and see if that works.

Yes it works my holdem manager works now however, my database seems to be gone. I have tried re-install my postgressSQL following this guide

http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=177

but my database appears to be gone, it has a player number but no hands. What can be done to help?

-----------------------------------------------------------------
I can add to this by saying that after I reinstalled my system my domain name has changed, does that matter?

Can you see hands on any of the various tabs? When it first crashed was HM open and importing? It sounds like your DB has become damaged.

*Try creating a new UTF DB - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=146
*Now import a small portion of your \HMArchive so you can see if the problem exists in the new DB - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=173
*If the new DB seems to work properly, you will want to import the rest of your archives to the new DB, export/import the hands from the old DB to the new DB, and export/import any player notes and tourney summaries - and then delete the old DB. - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=21

Make sure you export/backup everything before deleting the old DB - http://www.holdemmanager.net/forum/showthread.php?t=20754

If you play a site like stars/ftp you can email their support and ask for all your old hand histories and tourney summaries.

Thanks, I figured I can at least do that, is there a way to check in PGadmin if my database is in normal condition? I have a 2.25 G database it is painful to see it was damaged and cannot be repaired. Moreover, the only reason I don't want to just have a new DB is because of my HH, can I somehow save my hand histories? Thanks.

Another thing, I found out that after re-installed everything I now have a new account name under C:\Documents and Settings folder named postgres, I don't think it was there before. How can this be? Is it my database stored somewhere under this user name? I am very confused at this point.

No, the only real test is to try a new DB to see if the problem persists. 2.25 GB is not very large, especially if logging was never disabled. I would expect you have 300k hands at the most. This would only take a few hours to import on most desktops.

If you play a site like stars/ftp you can email their support and ask for all your old hand histories and tourney summaries.

The steps/links I posted above explain how to export all your hands, tourneys, notes, etc.

Here they are again:

*Try creating a new UTF DB - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=146
*Now import a small portion of your \HMArchive so you can see if the problem exists in the new DB - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=173

This is an annoyance caused by the new Postgresql installer created by EnterpriseDB. It can be removed with a simple registry tweak.

http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/remove-user-accounts-from-the-logon-screen-in-windows-vista/

We have our own new installer for Postgresql that hides that user and turns off the sql logging during installation so the customer doesnt have to deal with it.

Thank you for the reply. I am grateful for the help. But I asked the wrong question. What I meant to say is how to back-up my notes on players. If I do what you said, do I at the same time restored my notes?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I read the files, it does not tell me how to export notes from one DB to another, especially when my HEM find the old database and it did not seem to have any handhistory in it. Can I somehow do that in PGadmin?

The notes are part of the DB. You need to export the notes from the old DB, import the hands to the new DB, and then you can import the notes.

I read the files, it does not tell me how to export notes from one DB to another,

It is one of the links in the instructions on how to backup HM.

Sticky: How do I backup HEM and my Database (http://forums.holdemmanager.com/showthread.php?t=20754)

...........

You want to make sure you backup your Processed/Archived hand histories, your entire \config folder, and your exportednotes file. http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/?f=119. .......

especially when my HEM find the old database and it did not seem to have any handhistory in it. Can I somehow do that in PGadmin?

Just because HM doesnt show the hands doesnt mean the DB is incapable of exporting them. Hopefully it is able to export the notes also. There is no way to export notes thru pgadmin, only HM.

I am afraid I have made the problem worse -_-.

In attempt to do everything from the top, I re-installed postgreSQL, deleted postgres user. backed up everything under data folder and deleted the whole postgreSQL folder.

Now when I try to re-install it, it tells me to initiate data cluster as the whole postgreSQL folder doesn't exist yet.

So I created the folders, copied the data folder back, but it did not work. It still tells me the data cluster does not exist.

What do I do now? I know the worst case scenario I forget about the notes and just have a clean database. But I wonder if there's anything I can do alternatively.

God I just realized why HEM did not show any hands... Because my filter is set to THIS MONTH and I have not play a hand this month yet!

Holly cow... you shouldn't tweak your software after a long day of work I can tell you that.

-----------------------------------------------------------

I repeat the process and problem solved. Thanks for the help.
