I just downloaded HEM and am a bit clueless. I am trying to figure out the auto import option. From my understanding it is to import my new hands played from my absolute poker folder to a folder under HEM. I know the folder where the hand histories of my poker site are, but what directory should I put under "Archive Folder?"

Please update to the latest beta - http://www.holdemmanager.net/hmbetaupdate

We just added auto-detect import folders.

We normally suggest you use C:\HMArchive, but you may put it anywhere. Just make sure it is not in the same path as an auto-import folder.

To verify the location: Options > Configure Auto Import Folders > Edit > Archive Folder: ___________________

What is the purpose of the archive folder? I created a c:/hmarchive folder and then made that my archive folder. The importing seemed fine as the statistics are updating on HEM. However, when i look in the hmarchive folder, it is empty. Is everything working the way it should be?

It is for performance. If you have a lot of old duplicate files in then HM has to scan them, and decide if they are duplicates. This can cause a huge delay and stop the hud from appearing.

It archives the files every 15 minutes after inactivity, if HM is still running/importing. You can change this via Options > Miscellaneous Options > Change Archive Duration.

You should also try and close your poker client before you stop importing or close HM to make sure that the poker client is 'locking' the files and preventing HM from archiving. You can also start HM and auto import first, before you open AP. This should help them to archive.
