Hey-

I've asked about this before and you gave me a list of ways to improve HEM, however nothing worked. Everything was working great until like a month ago when HEM stoppped importing all of my hands. I don't get why it only imports about 1/3 of the hands I'm playing. I noticed that the files stopped saving in my archive folder, this could have something to do with it. No matter what I do I can't get the hand histories to save into my archive folder anymore. Please let me know if you can help.

Thanks,

Patvs

Which pokersite and Windows version?

-1 update to 1.10 beta 1 -http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe
(use the auto detect in the configure auto import folder, and double check all the archive folders)

-2 Under Vista and Windows 7 make sure UAC is disabled http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmmain.aspx?faqid=73 or holdemmanager.exe, hmhud.exe, and dbcontrolpanel.exe are started as administrator. Run the windows explorer and navigate to your Holdemmanager installation directory. Right click the dbcontrolpanel.exe, holdemmanager.exe, and the hmhud.exe executable and select "Run as admin" from the popup menu.

Add exceptions to the windows firewall, even if it is off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, do the equivalent or uninstall it temporarily - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171

Make sure you have Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 (or later for w7) installed.

I've had a similar problem, although as far as i'm aware, I'm only losing a small fraction of hands. I've only noticed about 4 hands not being present in my database this week, but there are probably others, if there are any at all. The interesting thing is, one of them was a marked hand, which means that at some point HEM received and processed the hand, but obviously didn't save it to the database somehow. What could this be? I mean, this one hand in particular I actually looked at the HEM hand history during the session, and unless I'm insane, I actually marked it. When I looked for it later under the sessions tab, it was gone. I tried looking under the hands tab using a filter, and couldn't find it either. This is pretty distressing, as at this point it's seriously affected the winrate the HEM has calculated for me. I have UAC settings turned down to the lowest setting in Windows 7. I just bought this laptop in the last week, and was using Windows XP before. I also have my Mcafee firewall set to allow full access to HEM. However, I don't think this is the problem, since I was able to review one of the hands through the HUD hand history viewer during the session. It's gotta have something to do with my system, I just have no idea what it is or how to find out. I'm going to download the latest beta now, but if you have any ideas what the problem might be, please let me know.

Superchimp - I'm not sure if this could apply to the marked hand, but with the others...

Do the players have unusual characters in their name ? Just an idea off the top of my head

Did everything you said and still is only importing one hand at a time and not saving files. I guess the only thing to do would be to delete all databases and uninstall holdemmanager and start over?

Start a new database.
If your postgres database is in win1252/ASCII encoding, make sure the new database is in ASCII.

If postgres is in UTF8, create a UTF8 database.
Check in pgAdminIII in what encoding postgres is. Default for 8.3 is ASCII and UTF8 for 8.4

If I start a new database, can I import my old hands into the new one? I would assume I can, just want to make sure.
I recently downloaded all my hands for the past week from Stars. I imported all of them back into my database. I looked for some of the hands in the HEM database that I know I lost, but couldn't find them. However, I briefly looked for some in the text file that I got from the Stars URL, and I WAS able to find two of them in the text file. I didn't look for long, so I don't know how many I might be able to find in the txt file. Might this all have something to do with a format change that Stars has made in the HH files?

Yes, you can import your old hands multiple ways. From your \HMArchive, you can export your DB, or you can email stars for all your old hands and tourney summaries.

Please update to the latest beta - http://www.holdemmanager.net/hmbetaupdate

*Try creating a new UTF DB - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=146
*Now import a small portion of your \HMArchive so you can see if the problem exists in the new DB - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=173
*If the new DB seems to work properly, you will want to import the rest of your archives to the new DB, export/import the hands from the old DB to the new DB, and export/import any player notes and tourney summaries - and then delete the old DB. - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=21

Make sure you export/backup everything before deleting the old DB - http://www.holdemmanager.net/forum/showthread.php?t=20754
