I've read the sticky and I've tried basically everything.
The error message I get is "The following error occurred when trying to open the database: Failed to establish a connection to '127.0.0.1'."
When I click ok to close the message box, the Database Control Panel pops up and when I attempt to connect, I get the message "A connection to PostGreSQL cannot be made. Would you like to have Holdem Manager start the service?" I click yes, it tells me that HEM starts the service, and when I try to connect again I get the same error message that I got the first time, except that when I tell HEM to start the service this time, I get a message box saying that HEM was unable to start the service followed by another message box saying that HEM has started the service.
Restarting didn't work, reinstalling PostGreSQL didn't work (I had a new login name as a result of the reinstallation and neither of them work while doing what I explained in the above paragraph), and following the other advice from the numerous FAQs also unfortunately did not work (turning off windows firewall/defender, having the firewall allow the proper .exe files and ports, Start/Stop service for PostGreSQL, etc.).
I'm running Vista (opening HEM as admin of course). For what it's worth I just got rid of numerous viruses (using trendmicro housecall, so that shouldn't leave a firewall up), and I upgraded from small stakes to professional last week with no technical problems.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
