Hem isn't working now. I have tried what it says in the sticky and gone to the file and right clicked/run as administrator but I just get the pop up saying couldn't connect to 127.0.0.1. Then DB control panel comes up and says it can't connect. I can't download the latest release because my internet cuts off every time I try to download something (no idea why but it's frustrating).

\what can I do to get it working?

I don't know what to do about the services part that it says in the sticky either.

The 127 ... message means that your postgresql service is not running or you can't connect to it.
Please check:
http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=34
http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171
and the Postgresql link in my signature

Have done the first one.

In the 2nd, I can't find where it says to 'add port' in windows firewall, all the files are already allowed through the firewall but can't find where to do the add port bit.

Which Firewall / Virusscanner /Operating System / Service Pack level / Postgresql Version?

Please give us all details about your system.
Is the Postgresql service running, can you connect via pgadmin?

Norton antivirus, windows firewall.

Windows 7 home premium

PostgreSQl 8.3

I don't know what pgadmin is, when I went into services, as described on one of the links you provided, I didn't see PostgreSQL.

Try to reinstall postgresql 8.3 using the old/existing \data folder - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=177

If you still cant that DB to install/connect, try reinstalling a clean version of sql - http://forums.holdemmanager.com/showthread.php?t=20755

Under Windows 7 you must set \holdem manager\dbcontrolpanel.exe, holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe to be started as administrator. Run the windows explorer and navigate to your Holdemmanager installation directory. Right click the executable's and select "Run as admin" from the compatibility tab.

The secondary logon service is a standard windows service which is available on every windows computer. In the latest versions it is not started automatically. You need to start it via control panel > administrative tools > services > postgresql > right-click > start AND right-click > properties > startup type: automatic.

Got it working, although it popped up with an error about my database, which was named guitey, saying it didn't exist or wasn't found or something like that. I have just started a new DB and importing all my old data.

That is a standard error if the default db name in your .config file no longer exists in postgresql. If you need any other help let us know.
