So Holdem Manager was working perfectly. Then all of a sudden I tried to start a session and a pop-up comes up saying "the following error occurred when trying to open the database: Failed to establish a connection to '127.0.0.1'."

I do not know why Holdem Manager can not start a session, I did not change any of the settings on my computer or in HM.

Thanks for your support

UAC is off and I am running Windows Vista 64 bit

This is usually a firewall or windows update issue.

First try to reboot.

If no help, try this:

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Stop Service

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Start Service

If that doesnt help delete the \postgresql\8.x\data\postmaster.pid file, if you see it.

Add exceptions to the windows firewall, even if it is off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, do the equivalent or uninstall it temporarily - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171

Please try following all of these FAQs, step by step:

1) http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=34
2) reinstall the same version of postgresql, using the same \data folder - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=177
3) http://www.holdemmanager.net/forum/showthread.php?t=8261

If that doesn't help you will probably have to reinstall PostgreSQL completely and reimport your hands using these instructions - http://forums.holdemmanager.com/showthread.php?t=20755

ive tried all of the steps besides re-installing and they did not work. I just wanted to add that there is a message saying DB control panel has stopped working. Should I still continue withe re-installation?

i reinstalled it, and now when i try and open HM there is an error stating: the following error occurred when trying to open the database: FATAL: 28000: password authentication failed for user "postgres"

What do I do?

PT3's default name/password is - postgres/dbpass
HM's default name/password is - postgres/postgrespass

If that doesnt help:

1. Go to C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\8.x\data, move the the pg_hba file to your Desktop and open it with notepad.
2. Scroll to the bottom and change all md5 to trust. Save and close the file
3. Move the file back to the data folder
4. Restart the PostgreSQL service: Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services

HM will accept any password now.

So i fixed this issue, but with my hud there are weird numbers that show up above the stats for each person......

ex:

stats for Durrr

0 5
25/19/3
8/74/90

What are the numbers that show up that i highlighted in red? They show up and i dont want them to

Please use the latest Beta 1.10 B4 from the link in my signature.

The numbers were some forgotten debug infos in an early 1.10 Beta 3 release.

The postgres installation creates a user postgres - you can hide this user: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/remove-user-accounts-from-the-logon-screen-in-windows-vista/

Why do you have to reinstall Postgresql so many times - i don't see you mentioned this before - what errors do you get?
Any 3rd party firewall/virusscanner in use?

For the Holdemmanager Installation: is it possible you installed HM to a non standard folder? Check the properties of your Holdemmanager Shortcut.

Which version of postgresql do you keep reinstalling? is it our new one-click installer that installs postgresql 8.4? Maybe it would be more stable if you used sql 8.3.
