I started playing on AP back in July and the poker client started freezing up pretty much from the start. It happened infrequently at first but it's started to happen much more frequently lately. I'd say it's happened about 7 times in the last 20 hours of play. I even did a reformat and reinstall of my OS about 2 months back, and the freezing problem happened both before and after. It seems to be happening much more frequently since AP's November 17th software update, but that could just be coincidence.

I tried making the adjustment of closing all other programs, leaving just HEM & AP running, but that hasn't seemed to help. What happens is that all the tables freeze, all the action freezes, and I can't click anything. The poker client and HEM become unresponsive. Once I kill the poker client either from the Task Manager or right-clicking on AP in the taskbar and choose Close (then choose End Now) AP closes after several seconds and HEM is able to be used again. Thankfully it hasn't happened when I was involved in any sizeable pots, but that's beside the point.

I 4-table when I play. I played at Stars before transitioning to AP in July and this situation never ever happened with them. My databases aren't too huge; my active one has 85k of my hands (5072 players), my other one has 357k of my hands (33862 players).

Here are the specs to my computer:

Windows XP
Intel Pentium D CPU 2.8 GHz
2GB of RAM
SATA 3Gb/s 80 GB HD (45.3 GB free)

Any suggestions?

How much memory does the AP software use after you've been 4-tabling for an hour? (in the Task Manager)
And do you have the same problem when using AP.... without using HEM.

My first thoughts: PokerStars just has better software. (so does Full Tilt)
What would help you the most are some of the things in this thread:
Top 10: HEM performance increase tips (http://forums.holdemmanager.com/showthread.php?t=11194)
Especially: #5 (remove winners columns) and #6 (a complete defrag with Defraggler) from that list.

Could you post a pic of a benchmark speedtest of your harddisk with CrystalDiskMark (http://release.crystaldew.info/CrystalDiskMarkSetup)

This is happening to me too, the table manager and absolute poker become unresponsive. I can kill the table manager process but that won't revive AP. It seems like it may be the table manager because why would it freeze too?

Which Operating System, Firewall, and Anti-Virus are you using?

Enable logging from the HUD options->Table prefs menu. When the crash happens again, go to the logs\log.txt file and move it to another location before you restart the hud. I want to get the 'crash' log.txt file after you finish playing. If you restart the hud before moving the log.txt file, it is overwritten.

Please reproduce the problem and post a screen shot of the Task Manager > Process tab sorted by CPU and Memory- http://graphicssoft.about.com/cs/general/ht/winscreenshot.htm

Please try to uninstall comodo, and reboot, and try another session. Comodo can often cause connection issues with HM and SQL, so i would like to just rule that out as a possible cause of this.

I have had this problem too, but only after an AP update that introduced the new tables like the 50BB tables. However, it is infrequent and random. Recently it only occurs in the evening. I have found that deleting the .agr and .log files from my Poker Application/Absolute Poker game folder helps. I'll try deleting log files from my HEM folder.

I uninstalled Comdo and it still freezes. I'm not convinced it's HEM after the latest patch I downloaded, it really seems like the AP client (maybe a combination, I wouldn't know... I only play with both at once).

I'll be upgrading to windows 7 soon and I'll let you know that goes.

I can now confirm that it still freezes in windows 7. I'm even using W7 firewall instead of comdo or anything, HEM is still running when it freezes so I think it's a problem with the main client.
