I reinstalled my computer and tried to restore a database I made a backup of but I am getting errors.

pg_restore: connecting to database for restore
pg_restore: creating SCHEMA public
pg_restore: creating COMMENT SCHEMA public
pg_restore: creating PROCEDURAL LANGUAGE plpgsql
pg_restore: [archiver (db)] Error while PROCESSING TOC:
pg_restore: [archiver (db)] Error from TOC entry 425; 2612 16386 PROCEDURAL LANGUAGE plpgsql postgres
pg_restore: [archiver (db)] could not execute query: ERROR: language "plpgsql" already exists
Command was:
CREATE PROCEDURAL LANGUAGE plpgsql;
.
.
.
pg_restore: [custom archiver] could not uncompress data: incorrect data check
pg_restore: *** aborted because of error

I was using PostgreSQL 8.3 and for this reinstall I am using 8.3
The backup is the only thing I have from the computer before I reformatted.

I desperately need to get this database restored.

Please help !

Which format did you encode the new DB you restored to?

Which Operating System, Firewall, and Anti-Virus are you using?

What sites do you play on? If you play a site like stars/ftp you can email their support and ask for all your old hand histories and tourney summaries.

I strongly believe it is encoded as SQL_ASCII
I'm using Windows XP. Using NortonAV.

I play on Stars, but I'm not sure if they will send me hand history for 500,000 hands... have they done that before?

They will gladly send you every hand you ever played. Make sure you also ask for your Tournament Histories if you play MTTs. Unzip and import the hands first, and then your summaries.

Please update to the latest version - http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmUpdate.exe

When you make a new DB, make it UTF.
